He grins. “I’m looking forward to holding so much to you, Sweeney.”

My nose wrinkles. “Not the best sexual innuendo.”

He laughs and runs a tired hand over his face. “True. What can I say? I’m tired.”

“Then come to bed.”

“Soon, Sweeney.”

I sigh again, admitting defeat. One more kiss against his lips and I scramble off of him. Fielder’s hands stay on me for a moment longer before they drop to his thighs with a soft thump of sound.

“Don’t stay up too late,” I remind him as I retreat to my room.

“I won’t,” he assures me, even though I know it’s a lie.

I ace the practice test Professor Carnes gives us, and practically dance out of the room, knowing I’m as prepared for finals as I can be. I have a few paragraphs on a handful of final papers, but nothing too terribly difficult. This is why I like to get a head start on all of my assignments. It makes it so much easier as the end of the quarter approaches, and while other students are running around scrambling to finish, I can take a much more leisurely stroll to the end.

I saunter towards my last class of the day feeling all kinds of relaxed now that I know I’ve got my statistics final in the bag. Gideon is trailing behind me and I give my hips a little extra sway, knowing without a doubt that he’s watching my ass in my short skirt.

When I first started at Seven Stars, I thought it was ridiculous to make adults wear a uniform to attend classes, but now I totally see the appeal. Or at least, I see the appeal in using said uniform to torture the hell out of my… boyfriends? Is that right?

Hardin is definitely. He proudly announced it in front of Morgan and Gabe and all their weird little cronies, but the others haven’t said as much.

I’m so caught up in thinking about it, I don’t notice the three men lingering outside the door to my class. Gideon does, though. He steps up next to me, casually slipping an arm around my shoulders and hugging me to his chest. I glance up at him, then back to the door of my classroom, only to draw up short.

Fear zings down my spine, making my face pale and my hands go all clammy. Gabe Verver is standing outside my classroom. So are Cohen and Dean Hardstark.

All three of them are looking right at me, and I draw up short of them, a safe five feet between me and Gideon and them.

I look at Cohen. “Hey.”

His lips tighten, and he doesn’t respond to my greeting. Instead, Dean Hardstark steps forward and holds out a hand to me. “If you’ll come with me, Miss Sweeney. We have something we need to discuss.”

Gabe makes a noise at the back of his throat, an angry hissing noise. “Its more than a fucking discussion. She broke into my room and ruined my shit.”

Next to me, Gideon goes still. His arm tightens around me. “That’s impossible.”

Cohen looks at me. “Please come with us, Miss Sweeney.”

“It’s not fucking impossible!” Gabe practically shouts, and I can’t help but shrink away from him. “I have proof. We have proof of her entering my room.”

“Mr. Verver, if you could refrain from sharing the details until we sort this out, that would be wonderful.” The dean still has his hand out to me, waiting expectantly.

Gideon pulls me a step back, away from them, while pulling out his phone and sending a message typed out with just his thumb.

I know I didn’t do anything. I know I would never willingly set foot into a place that Gabe Verver spends any amount of time. Beyond that the thought alone terrifies me, this scenario that they’ve laid out hits a little too close to home.

This happened to me. Someone broke into my room, destroyed my stuff, wrote threatening messages on my wall in what looked like blood. The dean decided I did it myself, that I was trying to get Hardin expelled.

I glance up at Gideon. Then step away from him.

The last thing I want to do is leave him behind and go anywhere with Gabe, even with Cohen and the Dean to keep us company. But I don’t have a choice. It’s not like I can just ignore them and go about my day.

Besides, I want to see what happened. I want to see this proof that Gabe claims they have.

I want to see what I’m up against. I motion for them to precede me and they do. The Dean and Gabe stride in front of me, not checking to see if I’m following, while Cohen falls into step on my left side.

“What’s the proof?” Gideon asks, keeping pace on my right as they lead the way down the hall.
