I had a head start on Xan and needed to ensure I kept it that way.

"Is my old room still available?" I ask as I follow him toward the front door wondering if Jacob had turned it into a gym or something when I left.

“It's still there.” He holds the door open for me as I step inside. “Go straight to your room and stay there while I inform the rest of the pack of your visit. I'll see you tonight.”

Without another word, I watch as he stalks off down the corridor towards where Jacob's office used to be.

Chapter Two

CORBIN

I sense Riley just before I hear his sharp tap on my office door.

"Come in." I snap, knowing exactly why he's here.

When my phone beeped this morning, alerting me of a presence at the gate, I was already awake. To say I was surprised to see who showed up on the screen would be an understatement. I'd waited for this moment for the first two years since she'd left, and every day was just another disappointment. Until today. So why is she here now? Fuck. I slam my hand down on the oak desk before me as Riley enters, closing the door behind him.

"Taking our mates return well, I see." Riley states, taking the seat across from me as I glare at him.

"Not as well as you. You looked like you were about to dry hump her right there on the grass." I spit jealously, gripping the edge of my desk.

Riley laughs, and I tighten my hold to stop myself from punching him in the face.

"Yeah, well, there's nothing wrong with getting her to remember what she's been missing, is there? Besides, don't deny it; you wish it had been you." he smirks.

Ignoring him, I turn my attention to the papers scattered on my desk. Whether I still wanted to fuck Lei or not, is none of his goddamn business.

It couldn't happen. It wouldn't happen. Not again.

"I'm busy. What do you want, Riley?" I snap.

"So that's how you're going to play it?" he demands, leaning forward in his chair. "I was just wondering if you'd told her the good news yet. Or did you just send her to her room like a coward?"

I growl at his words. I know he's goading me, but I won't play into his hands. If he wants to forgive and forget what Lei did to us, that's up to him. But right now, the only thing I want from Lei is my revenge. "If you're referring to the news about Keisha and myself, then no, not yet."

"You know she's going to find out tonight at the meet, and what happens when she does? Do you really think she's going to stay?"

"She’s not planning on staying. Lei made it perfectly clear that this visit is only for a few days, and it's none of her goddamn business who I've chosen to mate." I grind out.

"Keep lying to yourself, Corbin." Riley stands. "She is our business. She's always been our business." He brings his hand down hard above my papers, forcing me to look at him. "She's our mate. You may have given up on her, but I haven't. Unlike you, I only get one mate, Corbin, and I'm not giving her up without a fight." Riley turns, heading toward the door.

"Stay away from Lei." I growl in warning.

"She was never just yours, Corbin. Remember that."

As Riley slams the door behind him, I grit my teeth. That asshole always knew how to get under my skin, and I hated that he'd pulled me on Keisha. I know he wants me to tell Lei before she finds out at the meet, but the truth is I want to see her reaction. Her pain. Just like the pain she'd caused me. When we had first found her gone, Riley and I had searched for a whole damn year. It had driven my father nuts that I was wasting my time on someone who didn't want me, and he was right. Lei's the one who left here without a word, and I don't owe her anything, especially an explanation of who I choose to mate with.

It's not like I had planned to re-mate, but as the alpha, I didn’t have much choice. This pack needed strong leadership, and Keisha could help me do just that.

Speaking of the devil. I smile at the woman, now coming through the door. She's the last person I want to see right now since Lei’s arrival, but I also want to get her jealous tantrum out of the way.

“Keisha.” I greet.

“So, it’s true? She’s back.” She states, standing there with her arms folded across her chest, doing her best to stare me down.

“If you’re talking about Lei, yes. She’s here.” I glare back.

“Did you forget that she abandoned the pack? She’s a traitor. She doesn’t get to walk back in as if nothing has happened,” she demands. “Your father never would have opened the gates to someone who disrespected his pack.”
