“You asked me for my name,” I argued, though my anger was sort of… losing steam.

“I’ll need it at some point.”

“And you seriously gave me your real name?” My voice was raising, flooded with frustration.

“It’s yours to use any moment you wish to see me,” he agreed, that damn smirk back in place. “Preferably while you’re naked.”

Bastard.

I resisted the urge to smash the cake in his fucking gorgeous face.

That would be a sad, sad waste of cake.

“I’m not going to do that,” I shot back.

He only lifted a shoulder, still fucking smirking.

Damn him.

Damn him straight to whatever this world’s version of hell was.

“I’ll collect more of the items you need and bring them by in the morning. Different groups produce different things, so it’ll take some legwork. Luckily for you, I have great legs.”

“You have fucking wings,” I shot back.

His smirk curved into a wicked grin. “Glad you noticed.”

With that, he turned and strode away.

I slammed the door to stop myself from staring at his fucking incredible ass.

My fingers struggled with the locks one-handed, but Dots walked up and took over.

“What did you have to do for the cake?” she checked.

“I’m surprised you guys didn’t listen in,” I grumbled.

She flashed me an amused smile. “Ana would’ve, but we’re not into that. If you want to hook up with the sexy fae, that’s totally your call.”

I heaved a sigh. “He didn’t ask me to do anything; just handed the damn thing over. Said I needed it. Maybe he thinks I’m too skinny or something.”

“Answering the door was enough this time,” Dots mused as she finished the last of the locks. “Next time, it won’t be so easy.”

Great.

Fucking great.

“We’d better enjoy this cake then, because it’s the last one we’re going to have for a while.”

She laughed. “That’s the spirit. Welcome to Vevol, and all that.” She winked at me, grabbing the duffel bag and tossing it over her shoulder.

My stomach clenched at the way she picked my things up without so much as asking permission. I had to force myself to follow her without starting a fight in an attempt to get it back.

Not everyone was so fucking scarred when it came to holding on to their possessions.

I stood in the doorway while Dots set it just inside the doorway of my room, then shut the door behind her.

“I’m surprised you guys don’t split everything,” I said, relaxing slightly now that my things were in my room, as safe as they could be for the time being.
