Ducking out?

Bad move.

What I needed to do was shift back so I could talk some sense into the bastard who had been fighting so damn many other fae, but I had no idea how to do that.

As if that one simple thought—that I wanted to shift back—was enough, my body began to change again.

The shift back was just as smooth as the first one had been, my body morphing as if it was something I’d been doing my whole life.

I landed on steady legs, staring in shock at my arms, hands, and the rest of my body.

I had shifted.

Into a fucking bird.

There were even a couple of golden feathers on the ground, as physical evidence.

The dragon above me shifted in the blink of an eye, and then was a gigantic fae dude roaring at the other men while blocking me from their sight with his massive body.

I was slightly disoriented, but glanced down at myself and realized quickly why he was blocking me.

Oh, wow.

Yep.

Naked.

No wonder he brought me the fireproof lingerie.

“We have a right to meet her,” one of the other men snarled back, speaking above the other growling and snapping creatures. “You can’tclaim her.”

“I can and fuckingdid.Touch her and your life will end. Go ahead; test me.”

Fuckkkk.

Something told me this was what the whole savage thing was about. Dude had a murderous streak.

That was my cue to get right the hell out of there.

I took one big step backward—only to have Calian spin around, putting his back to all the men who seemed to want him dead, and plaster his bare chest to mine.

Did I have to wonder if he was naked?

No, I did not. There was definitely an overly-large dick pressed up against my abdomen.

And Ireallydidn’t hate it as much as I should’ve.

Like, not at all.

Which was a problem of its own, but one that my future self was going to have to deal with.

“What are you doing?” he growled at me.

“You threatened to kill all of them,” I whispered back. “Violently.”

His eyes flashed to a steely gray that matched his dragon scales. “You aremine.”

“That’s exactly why I’m leaving. Out of here. Now. Should’ve been ten minutes ago. Why aren’t they attacking you?” I was still whispering, and my words and brain were jumping around like fucking popcorn in the microwave.
