Sky said to have ameday, to enjoy the free time while I had it. At first I was reluctant to the idea because all I could think about was Damien’s orders and the truth about my father. But then I had to remind myself that Damien wasn’t here. That I was free. It may have only been for a certain number of days, but I was free all the same.

No Damien. No Gentlemen’s Club. No more putting on provocative outfits and being forced to shake my ass to music that I don’t even fucking like.I. Was. Free.So was I going to deny myself from relishing all the things I’d been neglected of for basically my whole life?

Fuck no.

I watched several episodes of the Vampire Diaries on Netflix, discovering very early in the first few episodes that I had a major lady boner for Damon Salvatore. I ate junk food. Indulged myself in some day-drinking by popping open a few wine coolers I found shoved in the back of the fridge. Then something I really enjoyed was blasting all of my favorite songs on YouTube while I sang and danced around in my underwear. It was the most fun I’d had inyears.

And I cherished every fucking minute of it.

Time flew by and when classes were over and Sky was done getting dressed, she escorted me to the front desk so I could trade in that hideous skirt for a new one. After dropping it off back at the dorm and grabbing my class schedule, Sky gave me the tour of the academy and showed me the best routes on how to get to all my classes.

Other than every other inch of the perimeter being tied down with an ass of security I’d yet to figure out how to maneuver around, there weren’t too many students out and about. This place, though…it just kept getting better and better. Tennis courts, volleyball, basketball. Indoor swimming and a large overly equipped gym us students could access until 9PM during the weekdays, but was open for twenty-four hours over the weekend for students who stayed put at the academy instead of taking advantage of the weekend pass we were privileged with.

There wasn’t fancy shit like this at my old school. Any form of physical activity consisted of either playing dodgeball or kickball. That was it. Growing up on the shit-end of Storm Ridge Valley really made me envy this place and everything it had to offer.

Everything I’d never fully get to enjoy because before I knew it, I’d be out of this place and right back in the evil, disgusting hands of Damien Reyez.

When the tour was done and we were making the trek through the courtyard back to our dorm, I noticed we’d gathered some unwanted attention. Sky didn’t exactly notice. She was too busy blabbering about the school rules to pick up on the awkward stares we were receiving from a trio of girls who were sitting on a bench ahead of us.

The closer we came, the harder the middle girl’s derisive glare narrowed down on me. The other two girls did nothing other than stare at me with their noses curled up in utter disgust.

“Just keep walking,” Sky said, finally taking notice to our audience. Her hand tightened around my left arm, and she gave me a little push so I’d walk faster.

“The fuck is her problem?” I snapped in a sideways whisper to Sky.

Sky waited until we passed the front desk and reached the elevators before answering. “Her name is Kinsley Sinclair. You know how in every school there’s always that one bitch who walks around thinking she’s better than everyone, has the smoking hot beau, and all that stupid shit?”

Where I grew up, we had far worse things to worry about than stuck-up bitches pretending their shit didn’t stink, but I nodded simply because I understood the implication.

The elevator opened and Sky amusingly raised her brows at me when we stepped inside. “Yeah, well it’s a little more complex than that when it comes to Kinsley.”

The elevator opened again and as Sky fetched out her keys to unlock our door, she said, “You see, Kinsley is in bed with the Ravagers. Isaac, specifically. Those two have been fucking each other on and off since last year, when Kinsley herself first moved here. The girl is like head over heels in love with him.”

I stepped inside the room and kicked off my shoes before ambling over to the couch, plopping down. Sky locked the door behind her and sank down beside me a moment later.

“Hold that thought for a moment,” I said, deciding now might be the perfect time to knock some items off my checklist. In order to do what I came here to do, I needed intel. And who better to give it to me than my own roommate?

“Who exactly are the Ravagers? You’ve mentioned them quite a few times today during the tour but you’ve yet to actually explain to me who they are and why none of the rules apply to them.”

“Oh!” Sky’s eyes went wide. “You’re right, I didn’t.” She mumbledhow could I be so stupidunder her breath and shook her head. “So, the Ravagers are basically the kings of Storm Ridge Academy. There’s Rhett Michaelson, Isaac Danvers, and Phantom Martinez. They’re brothers.”

“Brothers?” I questioned, raising a confused brow although I was evilly smiling to myself on the inside.

“Adoptive brothers,” Sky clarified. “They grew up together. Their father married Rhett’s mother when he was very little, like maybe four or five I think, then officially adopted Rhett after his mother passed away from cancer. Phantom and Isaac came along maybe a year or so after that. I’m not really sure ‘bout the time difference, but everything else is technically correct.”

“Okay, and?”

“There’s not much really,” she said with an honest shrug, which made me frown but quickly correct it before she could notice. “But there are a few things I've heard that I probablyshouldinform you about, just in case.”

She licked her lips and leaned back deeper into the left side of the couch, raising her brows at me again. “Isaac is a sex-addict. That boy is down to fuck whenever and whoever is willing to give it up. But he prefers natural beauties. The guy is fucked in the head. He’ll do anything you want as long as sex is on the table.”

Hmm. Interesting…but I wasn’t interested.

“I’ve heard Rhett is the sweet one,” she carried on, “that he’s harmless for the most part. But Phantom… He’s…different. He dresses like you, like he hates the world and what not, but he’s the one you really have to keep your guard up around.”

“Why?”

“He has anger issues. He loathes being touched and refuses any form of physical contact from anybody unless it’s his tattoo artist. I think you may have a class or two with him. You’ll know who he is when you see him. He’s the one who sits all the way at the very back of the classroom in the corner, away from all the other students.”
