I puked again then sat back and wiped my mouth, curling my knees into my chest. After banging the back of my head against the wall a solid eight to ten times, I finally summoned the courage to stand up.

After rinsing out my mouth and washing my hands, I heaved in a deep breath before dispersing out the door. Jace was there, sitting in the booth with Ginger. He gave me a nervous smile as I slid in my seat, facing them but refusing to meet their eyes.

“So, are we ready to order?”

From the corner of my eye, I saw the pizza guy standing there with a notepad in his hands.

“Uh, yes,” Ginger replied. “We’ll take a large meatlover and a pepperoni. You guys good with that?”

“Yeah,” Jace replied, his eyes never leaving my face.

“Fine,” I grumbled under my breath.

“And your drinks?”

“Three waters,” Jace replied.

The guy nodded and dashed away after writing down our order. Silence thickened the air between us for a good beat.

“So, um, Samara,” he said, slowly reaching for my hand. I moved it away from the table and stared out the window. I could feel his frown weighing down his gorgeous face. “I owe you an apology for how I acted the other day.”

“It’s fine,” I assured him, my voice cracking. “You have nothing to apologize for.”

“You didn’t tell her I was coming, did you?” he side-whispered to Ginger.

“No,” I answered again. “She didn’t.”

Ginger sighed. “I said I was sorry.”

It grew quiet again. A glass clanked down in front of me, signaling the waiter had dropped off our drinks.

“I’ll be right back with your food.”

He wasn’t joking. Not even twenty seconds after he’d walked away there were two large pizzas and three plates in front of us.

“Um, can I get a to-go box please?” I asked, facing the waiter.

“Uh, yeah, sure.”

“You’re not eating?” Ginger asked worriedly as she bit into her pizza, her sad eyes studying me.

“The box isn’t for me. It’s for my roommate, Sky. She’s going through a really hard time right now, so I thought I’d bring her back some food.”

“Is she okay?” Jace asked me.

“No, she’s not.” I took a small sip of my water and swallowed it down, eyeing between them so I could study their reactions. “She was almost kidnapped by an Outlaw this past Thursday.”

Jace almost choked on his water. Ginger stopped chewing and gently dropped her food back down on her plate.

“Yeah,” I said coolly as I snagged a slice of pizza and bit into it, watching as all the color slowly withered from their faces. I looked at Ginger then and pointed to my bottom lip. “By the way, that’s where this lovely little cut came from. I saved her from being snatched.”

Jace cleared his throat then. “And you’re sure it was an Outlaw?”

“As sure as I am that you’re trying to bullshit me right now by asking me that stupid as fuck question,” I shakily growled. “So, are you two going to continue to sit there and look guilty, or is someone going to fill me in on what the fuck is going on? Why are the Outlaws going around kidnapping teenage girls?”

The fire in my tone had them shifting uncomfortably in their seats. They shared a look. Ginger nodded, summoning a deep sigh out of Jace that had my brows shooting up to my hairline.

“Well?”
