“Thanks, Sky. Thanks a lot.”

She giggled and flashed me a warm, innocent smile. “I’m sorry. But hey, I’m totally down to watch it with you. I’ve watched this series like a hundred times already. I can’t get enough of it.”

“Just don’t spoil anything else for me. I’m invested.”

“Wait until Klaus comes into the picture.” She licked her lips, her eyes brimming with hunger. “I’d climb that man like a fucking tree.”

I burst out laughing and pranced over into the kitchen, grabbing some extra bags of popcorn out the pantry.

Sky coming back was the greatest blessing I could ask for at a time like this.

Chapter 45

Rhett

Ipulledupatthe house a few hours after the sun had set and parked, banging my head against the headrest.

“Well?” Phantom spoke from the backseat. “What do you think? You think Father will agree to it?”

“There’s only one way to know for sure,” said Isaac. “If you ask me, I think Cindy’s plan is fucking phenomenal. Father would be crazy not to agree.”

“Cindy isn’t a Ravager though,” I commented with a hard sigh. “It’s a great plan, that much I can agree with. For all we know, he’ll want to recruit her too.”

“Not fucking happening,” Phantom snarled. “Cindy is off limits.”

“Tell that to him,” I grumbled.

“You think I won’t?” he challenged. “Fucking try me.”

“Enough already,” spouted Isaac. “Father’s waiting for us, so let’s just get this shit over with already.”

We got out the car and slammed the doors behind us, trekking towards the front door.

I felt sick.

Hearing about what Damien made his son do and how Jace was coping, fucking infuriated me. At this rate, I was ready to say fuck it and pay his old man a visit fully armed head to fucking toe with every weapon known to mankind.

And the teenagers…

Fuck.

I couldn’t imagine what they must’ve been going through right now.

Regret slammed into me, making the nausea broil hotter in my gut.

I should’ve let Isaac blow that motherfuckers’ brains out when he had the chance.

We walked inside and instead of making our way down to the basement like usual, we entered the living room, spotting Father sitting on the couch, a large glass of booze in his hand.

“Boys,” he greeted us, a happy smile on his face. “Sit down and let’s drink. I have glasses for each of you.”

Father seemed to be in a good mood today, which was rare, given the circumstances. As we spread out and sat down either next to or near him, he poured us each a drink. We accepted them and quickly I guzzled mine down, pouring another.

“I have some good news,” Father spoke first.

“Yeah?” I questioned. “And what’s that?”

“Are you okay, Son?” Worry crossed his face as he studied me.
