“How's our girl?”

“Hungry.”

“She's a good little eater.”

“She is. We're lucky, you know? Breastfeeding isn't always so easy.”

His eyes smolder. “Comes naturally to you.”

I snort. “Helps that it comes naturally to her too. We might not be so lucky next time.”

Nick gives me a smile, but he doesn't agree with me. He thinks our babies are capable of anything. When Noelle is full, Nick slides the baby swing closer to the table so she can watch the action as we feast.

I settle in beside Nick with Noelle between us. Katie is on the opposite side of the table with Will beside her, Lucy and George at the end. We don't have Trevor and Allie here today because they spend Christmas at her parent’s house with their brood of kids, but we'll have them tomorrow.

I always love the days Allie and Trevor bring their kids. The house comes alive with the sound of laughter and tiny feet and little shrieks. I want to fill this house with babies, and as I look at Noelle, I think that Nick does too. And who knows, maybe tonight we'll make another baby.

It seems to be our Christmas way.

Our Christmas miracle.

Our gift.

THE END.
