Edward smiled. "Do you by any chance have the address of Harry's family?"

Willoughby looked at him, puzzled. He was still trying to figure out what the whole point of this conversation was, but he did not want to ask that out right. It was simply how he was taught to behave, and Leah could only respect that.

"I do not," he admitted. "But I think one of the servant girls is friends with his sister. She probably has their address."

"Would it be possible to procure it from her?" Edward asked.

"I suppose so," Willoughby nodded, then got up. "If that is all, I could go and ask her immediately."

"Please do so, Willoughby. We would really appreciate that."

"Of course, Your Grace," Willoughby bowed, then disappeared behind closed doors, leaving Edward and Leah alone in his study.

Edward looked at Leah. She could not tell if he was content with what they had found out or if he was disappointed. His face was expressionless.

"We didn't find out much, did we?" he finally spoke.

"We did," she corrected him. "We found out about Harry's past, and the fact that your parents were truly wonderful people who believed that others deserved a second chance. You might have known that, but I didn't," she smiled. "We also found out something else," she added mysteriously.

"What?" he inquired curiously.

"Harry's criminal past," she pointed out. "Those might be the same circles of people my mother was trying to help. Perhaps my mother knew Harry somehow as well."

"That is possible," Edward nodded pensively.

"It might be nothing," Leah continued. "But it might be a connection that we need to look into more deeply."

"You are right," Edward beamed. "As soon as we find out the address, we need to visit Harry's family."

"That is exactly what we need to do," Leah nodded.

He walked over to her and wrapped his arms around her waist. He stared longingly into her eyes. "Have I ever told you how much I appreciate your help with all this?"

She chuckled. "I thought you were the one who was helping me find out what happened to my mother."

His grin widened into a full-fledged smile. She loved when he smiled like this, genuinely, from the soul. He bared his whole self to her when he did so. She could tell that he rarely smiled like that, and it only made it more special.

"We are both helping each other," he decided to say.

"Yes," she giggled, when he leaned in for a peck on the lips.

She wrapped her arms around his neck, wanting to pull him closer to her. They were alone in his study. Perhaps they could take a little break and–

Before she could finish her thought and show him what she wanted to do, a knock on the door interrupted them. Edward stole another kiss, whispering into her ear,

"We shall continue this tonight."

The sound of his voice so close to her skin made her erupt in gooseflesh, awakening all of her senses. She had no idea how she would wait until nightfall.

He called for the intruder to come in, and Willoughby appeared carrying a little piece of paper in his hand. "The address, Your Grace," he explained the reason for his hasty return.

"Ah, yes. Thank you ever so much, Willoughby," Edward took the piece of paper from him and dismissed him momentarily. He turned to Leah, with the paper in his hand. There was a look of victory on his face. "This is our next step," he told her.

Leah smiled. "We are getting closer, aren't we?"

"I think so," he said, almost incredulous at these words. She knew that feeling, because she felt it also. She had been living in the dark for such a long time, and now, the light at the end of this long tunnel almost felt as if it wasn't real at all, but rather a mirage.

She could only hope that she was not the only one seeing it. Edward was there as well. They would both head in the same direction and they would reach the same destination, which could mean only one thing: the solution of this long, agonizing puzzle that had been tormenting them for far too long.
