“Ugh. I forgot. Focusing hasn’t been easy since this mess with Zach. How about I stop off at the center? It's on the way. I don't think anyone will blink an eye when I carry it out.”

“Sounds good. Do you want us to come in with you?” Alex asked.

“It might be better if you stay in the parking lot.”

“Sure.”

When she reached the center, she parked and then told Julia that a neighbor needed to borrow a cage. Her assistant barely reacted. When Tawny went into the back, Brett was there and insisted he carry it out to her car.

Surprisingly, he didn’t comment about Liam and Alex in the parking lot. Though if he had, she wasn’t exactly sure what she would say about them. “Thanks for the help, Brett.”

“Anytime.”

As soon as she slipped into her car, she took off, with the men following right behind her. When she parked at Uncle Augustine and Corinne’s, Tawny jumped out and rushed over to their vehicle. Alex pushed open his door and piled out.

“Is something wrong?”

“I hope not. I just thought maybe you could sense if there are more than two or three shifter signatures nearby?” She usually could tell, but right now, Tawny didn’t trust her senses.

“Not from out here, but remember we believe the hunters are human. If that’s the case, we can’t sense them. Don’t worry though, we will always watch out for you.”

She hoped that wasn’t some come-on line so they could continue to use the barn on the Granger property, because she was really starting to like both of them. A lot. Tawny had decided that she wouldn’t act on her desires until this werewolf hunter group was taken down.

Before she could press the doorbell, her aunt opened up. “Tawny. Oh, my. These must be your two men. Come in.”

“Liam and Alex helped find Zach.” She didn’t want to come out and say they weren’t her boyfriends when one of them might be in the future.

“Ma’am,” Alex said as he shook her hand. Then Liam introduced himself so she would know who was who.

“How is Zach today?” Tawny asked.

“Anxious to get back to work, but I told him if he left this house, I'd shoot him in the heart myself.”

Tawny laughed. “I’m glad he listened. Where is he?”

“In the den watching television. He turned the corner last night. He shifted and let his wolf do the rest of the work. Poor boy is bored, but he’s not as strong as he thinks he is.”

Tawny ran a hand down her aunt’s arm. “Thanks for watching over him.”

“Of course, but Malia gets most of the credit. She spent last night here. In fact, you just missed her.”

“I’ll be sure to send her a thank you,” Tawny said.

Tawny led the men to the den. When Zach saw her, he clicked off the television and smiled. “About time you came to visit.”

The hug that followed was wonderful and very much needed. “You don’t remember me saving your sorry ass?” She sat next to him. “Or that I was by your side when you woke up after the operation?”Or told me about the shooters?

“Hmm. I can’t say for sure. The recent past has been a blur.”

He was kidding, or so she hoped. “I don’t think you’ve officially met Liam and Alex.”

“The trainers. Trust me, I’m good to go.”

“That’s not why we’re here,” Liam said.

“Don’t tell me this is some kind of intervention?”

Zach’s level of denial didn’t come as a surprise.
