“Will do.”

He didn’t have to ask Alex to call Will. He was on it.

“Double G Bar, Will speaking.”

Alex went through what they knew. “When did she leave the bar?”

“A little over an hour ago. She said she was going straight to the center, but then the storm showed up.”

“We’re on our way to town now. We’re thinking she might have broken down.”

“Can I help?” Will asked.

“If you hear from her, call her father. He’s going to be coordinating the search,” Liam said.

“Sure thing.”

When they drove past the center, Trevor and Seth had already arrived. Good. That was one less thing they needed to worry about.

“If something happened to her, her car would be between here and town,” Alex said.

Way to state the obvious, but he kept those thoughts to himself. Liam had never been this on edge before. The snow obscuring his vision wasn’t helping either, despite his excellent eyesight. “It might be easier to shift and search both sides of the road.”

“Maybe, but let’s keep driving. It’s only a few miles between here and town. We’ll do the first pass by car and the second in wolf form,” Alex suggested.

Liam liked that idea. He slowed down even more as he scoured the left side of the road. Alex faced the right. They were halfway to town when Liam spotted what looked like a piece of metal in the road. Since no one was driving in this crazy weather, he did a U-turn.

Without a word, both he and Alex jumped out. Damn it was cold. Shifting would be more comfortable, but he had no idea if this was a trap of some kind to lure the Granger family there. Not that they were Grangers, but these vigilantes might not care.

Liam picked up what looked like part of a bumper. Alex rushed over. “We need to keep it, even if it doesn’t belong to Tawny’s car.”

“Toss it in the back.”

Liam had just placed it in the bed of his truck when Alex called to him. “I see something.”

Liam rushed to the side. The slope was about fifteen feet below the level of the road—out of sight from any oncoming car. At the bottom, underneath some branches, was Tawny’s car.

“Oh, shit. It’s her.”

Both of them slipped and slid down the hill, moving as fast as they could. Liam didn’t care that he landed on his butt twice. He just needed to reach her. When they made it to her car and looked in, she wasn’t inside. The airbag had been deployed though. “Where could she be?”

The front had hit a tree, and from the looks of it, her car was totaled.

“Do you think she crawled out and tried to reach the road?” Alex asked.

“She might have. Otherwise, she would have frozen to death sitting in the car. It could have been hours or days before anyone found her, especially with those branches partially covering the car. Good thing she’d called Brett to let him know to expect her.”

Alex peered in. “Her phone is on the floor. Why not take it with her?” he asked.

“Excellent question. Even if she couldn't get any service, she should have been able to call 9-1-1.”

Just as Liam was about to open the driver’s side door, Alex stopped him. “In case someonehelpedTawny down the side, there might be prints on the handle.”

Once more, Liam couldn’t believe how careless he’d almost been. “Call her dad. He’ll bring a tow truck and can process the car.”

“On it.”

Liam looked into the woods. “Tawny?” he yelled. Having seen the blood on the steering wheel, he doubted she’d try to find her way through there—unless she was being chased. While he hadn’t lived in Wildwood very long, he didn’t think there were any houses or sheds where she could seek help. He also had no idea how far it was to the other side.
