"Great work."

“What about Tawny?” Zach asked. “Did you see her at all?”

Mason shook his head. “I wish.”

“Did you see if they went north or south?” Liam asked.

“North.”

Liam’s truck as well as Benson’s car were parked about two miles north of there. Mason had parked to the south.

“Let’s see if the sheriff’s keys are in the ignition. I’m not sure it’s legal to take his vehicle, but I think he’ll forgive us if we save Tawny.”

They all climbed up the hill. Sure enough, the keys were there. Before Alex could reach the driver’s side, Liam took the driver’s seat. Alex sat shotgun, and Zach, Benson, and Preston took the back.

“What about me?” Mason asked.

“Do you really want to get into a skirmish when we reach these people’s house?”

They could let Mason drive back to his car while the rest shifted and raced to theirs, but in truth, Mason would be more valuable being the point person between them and his dad.

“Not really, but I don’t relish walking back to my car. But I will.”

“It’s a mile. You can do it. Check on your dad. You can be the liaison between us,” Liam said.

“Hey, I get it, but once I train, you’ll be begging me to go with you.”

Zach grinned and waved before closing the door on his brother. Liam took off to the crossroad up ahead.

After reaching the road where they’d parked, Liam slipped the keys under the mat, and then they headed to their two vehicles. The last thing they needed was to be pulling up in a squad car.

“Let me call Trevor to see where they are,” Benson said. Once he connected, he asked for their location. “Text me the address. Do they look like they’re in a hurry? Okay. We’re maybe fifteen minutes from you… Yeah, yeah. No, we don’t plan on pulling into their driveway. I wasn’t born yesterday.” Benson shook his head and disconnected.

“What did he say?” Zach asked.

“Trevor is sending the address. Seth is parked a half-mile north of the place and Trevor half-mile south. They will wait for us before doing anything.”

“Great,” Liam said. “Follow us in case there is a skirmish.”

Benson huffed out a laugh. “I have no desire to be fighting in the next ten minutes.”

Preston nudged him. “Like I’ve been telling you, you have to start working out in the gym.”

“Sure thing." Benson shook his head.

The group laughed. The nervous energy was thick. With Tawny’s life on the line, they had to stay focused, though.

Alex used the GPS to make sure they could find the house where the kidnappers were located. When they arrived, they had to make sure to keep out of sight. “Damn, maybe we should have insisted Mason come with us to take pictures,” Alex said.

“He’s better off relaying information to the sheriff,” Liam told him. “Besides, he has the men’s faces picking up the ransom money and their license plate. That’s enough to convict them.”

“Let’s hope.”

When they neared the property, Liam parked close to Trevor’s Jeep. Trevor slipped out of his car and headed back to Liam’s truck. He rolled down his window. “Tell me what you’ve seen.”

“Seth and I scoped out the area the best we could without being spotted. We were in wolf form, so we could get close enough to see. The two men went into the house but haven’t come out. Any idea on the best way to proceed?”

Just as he asked that question, Trevor’s phone pinged, indicating a message. “It’s from Mason.” Trevor read the information. “Interesting. According to Noah, Uncle Adam received a message saying that the kidnappers will deliver Tawny to the north end of the park in town.”
