I was… pissed? Frustrated? Oddly intrigued by a girl I had no right thinking about.

But I couldn’t stop myself. Dayna Benson consumed my thoughts; she’d even wormed her way into my fucking dreams. I’d woken in a ball of sweat, my dick rock hard and aching, as hazy memories of her naked body pressed up against mine flickered through my mind.

“Have you talked to Dayna?” I asked.

Fuck. Why did I ask that?

“Dayna? Only to arrange the boat trip later. Why?”

“Nothing.” I nursed my coffee, wondering when things had gotten so complicated.

I didn’t do complicated—my life was already enough of a shit show to add in girl drama. It’s why I didn’t date. Why the second a girl got too clingy—usually after one night, two if she was lucky—I cut her loose.

“What aren’t you telling me?” Carson pushed, and I lifted my gaze to his, frowning.

“Her boyfriend got caught in some photos on social media.”

“What kind of photos?” A flash of irritation coasted over his expression.

“Could be something. Could be nothing. My money says he’s dicking around on her.”

“Shit. You think he’s cheating on her? He’s barely been gone a week.”

“Looked pretty up close and personal with some girl in the photos. Dayna was upset and spent the day avoiding everyone.”

“She talked to you about this?” His brow lifted.

“I went for a late-night swim. She was jogging on the beach. We talked a little.”

I left out the part where I’d overstepped, and she’d stormed off again.

“What did she say?”

“Did you know they haven’t… you know.”

“Seriously, you’re talking to me about her sex life?” Carson blanched. “She’s like a fucking sister to me.”

“You don’t think it’s weird they haven’t—”

“I swear to God, Aiden.”

“Geez, relax. It’s just sex.”

He blew out a steady breath, the muscle in his jaw clenching. “They really haven’t…”

“Nope. Weird, right?”

“I mean, I’m sure she has her reasons. But they’ve been dating for eight months. I just assumed…”

“Well, the asshole seems to be having no problem with the ladies up in Toledo.”

“You like her?” Carson pinned me with a hard look.

“Who, Dayna? I mean, she’s okay.” I shrugged. “As far as girls go. But I don’t—”

“You should see your face right now.”

“Fuck off.”
