“Good.” He pats my hip. “Up.”

My face is hot as I stand. There’s a noticeable wet spot on his pants and I don’t miss the outline of his cock. Reaching down, I grab my bra and shirt, putting them on with my back to Jafar. I’m still wet between my legs, but I’ll have to worry about that later. When my clothes are in place, I turn to Jafar.

“I guess I’ll head out.”

“My driver can take you to the hotel.”

He turns his attention to his computer, dismissing me. Unspoken words hang between us, but neither of us makes a move to speak. Grabbing my purse, I head to the door.

“Ellie?”

“Yeah?”

“Stay away from Al.”

I nod as my eyes fill with tears. And then I get the hell out of there.

The next morning, I get a text from Gemma saying everyone is taking the day off so they can get ready for the fundraiser dinner. I’m kind of glad that I don’t have to be around anyone. I slept like crap last night. Each time my eyes closed, all I could see was Jafar and flashes of everything that we did. There’s a part of me that knows that I’ll never be rid of Jafar. Not when he haunts my dreams. And certainly not since I’ve had a taste of the real thing.

But I can’t believe the fundraiser is tomorrow. Suddenly, I feel like there’s a countdown hanging above my head. First, it’s the fundraiser, then the gala, and then I’m leaving New York for good. I should be happy, but I’m not because I know it means never seeing Jafar again.

Sighing, I look at my calendar. I’m supposed to meet Bruno at six, but until then I have nothing to do. I text Jasmine. I haven’t heard from her since we went to Water Mills and I miss her, which is screwed up, all things considering.

Jasmine

Hey stranger! What are you up to?

Hanging out with Dru. We’re going to Saks. Want to come?

I bite back a groan. Do I want to hang out with the two of them? No. I want to hang out with Jasmine, but I know she’ll make a big deal if I say that. There’s a part of me that wants to tell her I don’t want to hang out with her, but I know I can’t just mope around here all day.

Sure. Leaving the hotel now.

When I get to the store, they’re already there and laughing as I approach.

“Hey,” I greet them.

Jasmine wipes at her eyes. “Hey, Ellie. Dru was just telling a funny story from boarding school. Remember when we were about to graduate, and that hot math professor started? Mr. Staw, I think.”

Dread fills me, but I nod.

“Dru said that she found a love letter that someone left for him. Can you believe that?”

Dru’s eyes are full of cruelty as she says, “It gets better. I know who left it.”

Jasmine says, “Spill!”

“It was our very own Ellie.”

Jasmine bursts out laughing. “Ellie, is that true? He was soold!”

I force a small laugh. “He wasn’t that old, and, yes, I left it.” I turn to Dru. “What I’m wondering is, how did you get it? I slipped it under the door to his office. There’s no way you simplyfoundit.”

She shrugs. “When I realized you thought he was cute, I started flirting with him. I was in his office with him when you pushed it under the door. Gave us quite a laugh after we had sex.”

Jasmine laughs out loud, slapping Dru’s arm. “You’re so bad! How come you never said anything before now?”
