She squeezed my hand and sucked in a breath as I pulled her through to the snowy meadow with mine and Ella’s castle in the distance.

Still keeping hold of my hand, she gasped. “Is this for real? Are you seriously King of the Frost Court?”

Smirking, I nodded toward the castle. “Do you want to see my crown?”

Tears formed in her eyes. “So, let me get this straight. You fell in love with Ella, and she with you. You died to save her, and she brought you back. Now you’re a king and live in the Land of the Fae?”

“Exactly,” I said, laughing. Then I squeezed her hand. “And you can live here, too. Or, if you don’t want to come here, you can have my cabin in North Carolina. I wanted to give you a choice.”

“Would I be living there?” she asked, pointing at the castle.

I smiled. “I’ll build you your own place. You can have whatever you want.”

The tears fell down her cheeks. “Kai, I don’t know what to say.”

“Say yes,” I said. “I know I was a shitty brother, and I want to make it up to you. You’ll be happy here, I know it.”

Piper flung her arms around my neck and cried. “Then, yes! This place is magical.”

I held her tight. “It is. And I want you to have the family you deserve.”

“That’s all I ever wanted,” she whispered.

“I know. I’m just glad I can give it to you.”

Chapter36

Ella

ONE MONTH LATER

Time has flown by the past month. Kai’s sisters have joined us in the Frost Court and have their own homes on the palace grounds. I’ve grown close to them and have enjoyed showing them all that the Land of the Fae has to offer.

We’ve also found hundreds of fae in the mortal realm who have chosen to come over and swear allegiance to the Frost Court. Mine and Kai’s land grew every day, and I could only imagine what it would be like in the future.

Kai held my hand as we walked out of the ballroom to the veranda. Everyone was still inside, celebrating Marin and Owen’s wedding. I promised my best friend a grand wedding, and that was what she got.

Kai stepped in front of me and sat down on the banister. “Do you regret not having an elaborate wedding?” He nodded toward the frost-covered windows where everyone was inside, dancing and having a good time.

I glanced through the glass and saw Piper dancing with a Winter Court warrior; she looked like a princess.

“No, I don’t regret a thing. I was ready for you to be mine.”

Kai chuckled. “You couldn’t resist me.”

Rolling my eyes, I smacked his arm playfully. “I think it was the other way around.”

He peered over and watched our guests inside. Merrick and Aubri were dancing even though no one could see them.

“Merrick’s actually turned into a good friend,” Kai confessed. “I’ve enjoyed his company.”

That warmed my heart. “I’m just glad he’s happy and in love. Aubri is a perfect match for him.”

“True. But my concern now is with your brother. We’ve been butting heads a lot, especially during training.”

The warriors have a specific form of fighting, but Kai wasn’t trained that way. He wasn’t brought up learning our techniques.

A laugh escaped my lips when a vision of Beck falling on his ass flashed through my mind. “Beck is just pissed that you bested him the other day,” I confessed. “Watching you knock his legs out from under him was funny.”
