“Oh? Did you have the right vibe about me?”

“I went home with you, didn’t I?”

“So, about that vibe?”

“The minute I walked into your home, saw you in your true surroundings, yes, I got that vibe from you. The one that tells me that you’re an amazing man and…”

Glancing out the window, I stop midsentence without even realizing it. Our destination is directly ahead of us. It’s perfect. It’s well-kept, quaint, and precisely what we need. Spacious without being too big, it has a grand entrance and lots of grass all around it. I hop out of the truck without hesitation and walk toward the building.

I stop abruptly, and Carter runs into me.

“Hey, you okay?”

“This is it.”

“We haven’t even gone inside yet.”

I turn and look at him. “Sometimes, you just know.”

Tucking a piece of hair behind my ear, he says, “Yeah, yeah, you do.”

We stand there for a moment gazing into each other’s eyes… until the obnoxious sound of the real estate agent’s overly enthusiastic horn.

I cover my mouth to hide the giggle.

“Seriously, what the hell is with that horn?” Carter says. “I guarantee it scared away all the wildlife in the county. And if the horn didn’t do it, her voice sure as hell did.”

“Stop it.” I gently elbowed him in the stomach, now unable to control my laughter.

“Tell me you haven’t been thinking about it all day?”

“I mean, yeah of course I have, but…”

“Hey kids,” she says at the top of her high-pitched lungs. “So, whadda ya think?”

Composing myself, I tell her that I love it. She unlocks the door and allows us to enter first. Once inside, I stop and look around. Sure, it needs a good cleaning, maybe, okay definitely, needs some updates but… wow.

“I feel it, too,” Carter whispers in my ear. He turns to Ginny, the real estate agent, “We’ll take it.”

“Splendid,” she squeals. Pulling out her phone, she chats with someone on the other end while Carter and I slowly walk through, planning what each location could be. On the back of the building is a sunroom that overlooks the vast plot of land behind.

“I think this should be our office,” he states.

“Our office?”

He nods.

“I want you to run the Foundation with me.”

“I’m sorry, what?”

“I know it’s not physical therapy. I know it’s not your dream job, but…”

“It’s even better. Are you sure? I mean… seriously?”

“There is no one on this planet I trust more than you, princess. Not with my arm. Not with my foundation. You’re exactly what this place needs.”

“Well, shall we get the ball rolling?” Ginny asks when she joins us.
