"Then maybe we should learn some…" Doolin told them.

Everyone laughed.

Ferg looked up in the sky and sighed heavily, then he went over to Matt and Snow Bird. "What you gonna name him?"

Snow Bird looked up at Ferg, "Matthew Raz Younger." She smiled now.

Ferg was smoking a pipe now and nodded with a sly smile. "Oh, Raz would have loved that…."

He walked off then, his gait picking up a bit, "Yes sir, he would have liked that a lot."

When Coon heard what they named him he strolled over to look at the baby himself. "Heard what you named him. Thank you. Raz would have really gotten a kick out of that, I can tell you."

Snow Bird smiled and reached for Coon's hand. "I'm glad."

He winked and walked off.

"You named him after me?" Matt stared into her eyes.

"Because you accepted him as your child without protest. You loved him before he was born, and he can do no less than love you for that…."

Matt smiled, "Got a lot to teach him…"

"You have years to do so…" she smiled.

"Why don't you get a little nap and I'll take him, so everyone gets a chance to hold him."

"I am tired…" she sighed.

He kissed her cheek and took the baby, so everyone gathered about him, and took turns holding him.

"He's a fine-looking boy." Ferg told him.

"Yeah, he is…." Matt said proudly, "And I want all of you to help me teach him things."

"All of us?" Doolin asked surprised.

"I'll need you to help me, of course."

They all chimed in at once and then stories began around the fire and Snow Bird closed her eyes with a satisfied smile.

She so loved her white husband, and she would never leave him, she vowed.

Chapter Twenty

Maneuvering through the mountains, fending storms, fallen trees that had to be moved, they moved over the Rockies onward toward Texas. It was a long trip, and by the time they reached the Red River, they stopped and smiled looking onward.

Summer was in full bloom now; the heat was stifling. But the land before them promised a home and none of them looked backwards.

Crossing the Red, they went deeper into the North Central area of Texas. When they came upon Waxahachie, a good size town they stopped. After all it was a booming town with banks, schools, and it was shipping cotton and lumber at a quick rate. People were everywhere here.

"Big place here," Ferg noted.

"Yeah, lots of people and they are all comin' and goin'." Coon noted.

Matt spied the land office and they went to find out some information.

"Good day sir," Matt cleared his throat to attract attention to the clerk who was bent over his desk at the time.
