"I come from the Northern Arapaho tribe. Lone Wolf is my cousin, and we are very close. But he does not see what is in your eyes. I have looked upon you though… "

She stared once more. "But I… I do not know you?"

"Then perhaps we should get to know each other, as I find myself spellbound at your beauty."

"Me?" She smiled shyly once more, "You are a charmer."

"I am two years older than my cousin, and I have no wife. I have searched my tribe and find not one that compares to your beauty. For my eye has caught you, and I cannot look away."

"But you hardly know me."

"Perhaps I will take the time to get to know you better. For I see a kindred heart in you. And I seek to find my own wife. I seek to have children. Now tell me, what is it you seek?" He smiled beguilingly at her.

She swallowed hard, "Up until now, I thought I knew. Perhaps I was wrong." She looked up into his eyes and saw something she'd never seen in a man's eyes for her. She saw desire. It warmed her heart. "Perhaps I have looked in the wrong places as you say. Maybe we should get to know each other."

"Then I may pay court to you, Little Feather?" he asked. "I have little time for it, but I will make the time if you will honor me with your presence."

"You talk like a white man," she chuckled.

"I have lived and worked with the white man, learned his ways. But I have an Indian heart always. I am chief in my tribe, and we work for the betterment of our tribe."

"Then you are well educated?"

"Yes, I'd say so."

"I am not…" she said softly.

He lifted her chin with a finger and she blushed, "You don't have to be. You are talented, loyal, and very much a beautiful woman. Do you want a family, Little Feather?"

"I would love to have a family… as my family have died."

"Have you ever been north?"

"Only as a child." She answered. "Our tribe followed the buffalo."

"It is beautiful in my country to the north. There are many trees and many waters. It is much colder in the winter. We have many mountains too. I would like you to see them…perhaps someday?"

She looked shyly at him now, worried she would sound too interested, "I would like to see your trees and mountains."

He smiled and walked her back. But as she would have gone to her tipi he pulled her up close, "May I kiss you, goodnight."

"Goodnight?" she questioned.

"Yes, it is a custom of the white man to kiss goodnight when he takes a pretty lady out."

"W-well… I…"

But Red Hawk did not wait, he swooped her up in his arms and kissed her tenderly.

When he released her he smiled, "It is as I thought."

"W-what?" she murmured, stunned at the kiss, and how much she responded.

"You are very much the kind of woman I seek for a wife." He smiled once more, seeing he'd embarrassed her.

"Do I frighten you? I move too quickly, but I must. I cannot stay here long, so I must be honest." He asked when she was silent. "When a man searches, and he finally finds, he must speak up."

She glanced up at him, "No… you do not frighten me."
