"The Creator knew better than we did that we would be together."

"Yes, he did. You are mine now, never forget it!" he told her, kissing her deeply.

"I have never forgotten Aiden. Never. And I'm glad you had your bar maids, it has made you into a lover I cannot compare."

"We understand each other so well. We fit together so well. And we have loved for so long… "

"Yes, it is true…. Even at ten, I loved you. But I knew it was not to be then. At sixteen, I had hoped. But still you did not claim me… "

"You were so young, so damned beautiful. You had a life there in the village. You'd adjusted to that life and I didn't want to drag you away."

"And now?" she asked.

"Now, there is no reason not to claim you. When you fell out of that tree, I knew you were mine. I knew it!"

She smiled, "I could not hide any longer how I felt."

"Neither could I." he smiled sexily at him.

"Are you hungry?"

"Famished."

"I will fix us a meal now."

"Good, I'll start a fire and warm this place up a bit."

She threw on another dress that was folded neatly at a chair on the other side of the room. Mrs. Ferguson must have put it there for her.

She stood in the doorway, "I love you Aiden, I always have, and I always will!"

"I feel the same, sweetheart, the very same." His glance devoured her, she smiled.

She blushed and went to fix something to eat. She cut the ham, and heated the beans, there was a pan for cornbread, so she made that. Everything they could need was provided, all by the Fergusons. She owed them greatly, but she knew that as they aged, she would take care of them and it made her feel as though she had a family now.

She wrapped her arms around her and remembered their lovemaking and sighed happily. She blushed when she realized how wild she had been in his arms, but she wasn't sorry. She had to show him how much she loved him. She could not be ashamed of that. He was her husband now, and they belonged to each other. She knew she would never love any man as deeply as she loved Aiden.

Chapter Twenty-One

For the next three days Aiden and Lucy, made love several times a day, talked and were completely absorbed in each other. It was what Aiden called becoming as one. There was little doubt about how they looked at things, what they thought, or how they acted or reacted to one another. They knew each other, unlike most that had to learn.

The harmony between them was natural and they knew they were together in life. They knew there would be strife.

"They are gonna keep looking for me," Aiden told her.

"They will not find you!" She promised him.

"If only there was some way to clear my name." Aiden told her.

She hugged him, "We will ask the Creator to help us."

He nodded. "He may be the only one that can."

"Let's go home and talk to everyone. It's time, sweet one, but I hate leaving our paradise."

She smiled, "Wherever you are is paradise, to me."

He chuckled. "God, I love you woman."
