My breath stalls in my lungs. “Are you serious?”

“Do I look like the kind of guy who’d joke about that?”

“No.” Cason did this, for me? Truthfully, I really do not deserve it at all. I shake my head and my hair falls over my shoulder. “Cason, I—”

“You’re not going to argue with me, are you?” I’m about to continue my protest, but he laughs. “It’s not going to get you anywhere, Londyn. I’m supposed to be pampering you, and I plan to do it. I guess you’re right. I am bossy, so zip it.” He runs his thumb and index finger over his lips.

“Zip it?” I blurt out.

He laughs. “Yeah, zip it or I’ll zip it for you.”

I lift my chin, all indignant-like, even though his sweetness wrecks me a little more with each passing moment, and releases a need inside me that I’m too frightened to acknowledge. But what we’re doing here, this isn’t the real deal. He’s playing the part of Prince Charming by day, Big Bad Wolf by night, and the combination isn’t something a girl can walk away from unscathed.

“I’d like to see you try,” I say, my objection sounding weak, even to my own ears.

“You asked for this.” He leans into me, and any further protest dies a fast death as his lips capture mine and terminate my flow of words. The last time a man kissed me speechless was...never. But oh, this is so much better than arguing. As I clamor for more, one hand goes to my bare thigh, making it impossible for me to think as his fingers draw lazy circles on my trembling flesh. His lips devour mine, and I moan, my tongue tangling wickedly with his.

He inches back and his warm chuckle, rich and sexy, curls around me, and my entire body shudders. “Ready to zip it?” he mutters into my mouth, my lips still parted, poised and waiting for more.

“You don’t play fair,” I say with a sigh.

“No, I don’t.”

“You’re going to pay for that.”

“Or maybe instead, later tonight, when I get you back here alone, we can pick up where we left off.”

“Okay,” I say dreamily.

What the hell, Londyn? When did you get so easy?

He laughs, and kisses my nose. “Come on.”

“Wait, where are we going again?”

“Don’t you have some costumes to deliver?”

“Yeah, but we sort of got sidetracked last night, and I still don’t have a sewing machine.”

“Yeah, about that little interruption up against my front door. Sorry, not sorry,” he jokes and takes my hand to pull me up. I stand before him completely naked and his nostrils flare. Without a word, he goes to his closet, grabs a button-down shirt and drapes it over my shoulders. I grin, loving the way he looks at me with such hunger. I do this to him. I can’t even begin to describe how that makes me feel.

“Come with me.” He takes my hand, and leads me down the hall and into another room. I come to an abrupt halt when I see a Janome HD-3000 heavy-duty sewing machine.

“I promised this last night, and I’m a man of my word, so I apologize for not having it here then, but under the circumstances...”

“Cason.”

“What, you don’t like it?”

I step farther into the room, my gaze going back and forth between the top-of-the-line machine and the man who is seriously slaying my heart, scoring it so many times I’m not sure I’ll be able to put it back together when I leave here.

He dumps the bag of costumes onto the table. “Luis said this one would be the best for thick fabrics.”

I open my arms, my palms up. “How...when... I don’t understand?”

He grins. “You needed a machine, so I got you one.”

“How did you get it here so fast?”
