The quarterback is fast, his legs pumping down the field as he dodges defensive players left and right. If he makes this, the game is over, and the Sharks win.

Oh my fuck. I can’t watch.

My body buzzes with anticipation as I force myself to keep my eyes open, trained on the field.

When the QB hits the ten-yard line, I see him and jump to my feet.

Fox comes out of nowhere, running in a straight diagonal line toward the Sharks’ QB.

“Yes!” I shout, rushing to press my nose to the glass. “Go, Fox!”

Fox jumps at him, and wrestles him to the ground, just as time runs out. I scream with delight, tears stinging my eyes as Fox jumps up and is immediately pounced on by his cheering teammates.

The stadium goes into absolute pandemonium and I can’t remember ever feeling so insanelyon. Like my body is connected to an electrical outlet and I’m shooting sparks from every nerve ending.

“Did you see that?” I screech, still bouncing on my feet as the others come to join me at the glass to whoop and holler and lift their beers, pumping fists into the air high enough that Fox can see us all gone absolutely wild for him up here.

Someone on the team dumps a barrel of an orange sports drink over another teammate’s head, and he throws his arms up in the air, laughing. Fox stands with the help of another of his teammates and accepts several hard thumping claps on his back. I can see his wide white toothed smile from all the way up here. He lifts his chin and I know he’s looking up at us even though it’s hard to tell from so far away.

He presses his first two fingers to his lips and then sends the kiss in a salute my way. I laugh, my body still shaking with energy after his game-winning move.

“Come on, sweetheart,” Miles says. “He’ll meet us back home. He always goes out with his teammates after the game to celebrate.”

But I shake my head.

“He’s coming,” I tell Miles, feeling the pull through the bond. Fox’s intense need to see me. To celebrate his win with me.

Miles turns his head to look back down onto the field and we watch as Fox breaks away from the others, jogging toward the sidelines, vanishing into the crowds.

Thane brushes his hand up my arm and I shiver from his touch, not realizing how turned on watching Fox play would make me. “Just be careful,” he warns, leaning down to press a kiss into my hair.

It’s my turn to be confused, until Thane says to the others. “Let’s give them some privacy.”

Miles and Levi grin, following Thane toward the door just as Fox bursts through, still in his grass-stained jersey.

I give him a wicked grin.

Thane jerks him into an embrace, thumping him on the back. “Congrats, man. Amazing play.”

“Didn’t doubt you for a second,” Miles adds.

“Good game, Fox. You really know how to push it to the last minute.”

Fox, breathing hard from rushing up here, accepts their congratulations, but his eyes are fixated on me, still standing by the glass wall overlooking the stadium.

The others spare me one last glance before weaving around Fox to wait outside, closing the door behind themselves.

“Come here, champ,” I tease, holding a hand out to him. He blinks at me and lurches forward, stalking toward me with predatory strides. He all but tackles me, pressing me into the glass as his lips find mine. He eases off after a kiss that steals all the air from my lungs, remembering himself.

I pull him against me tighter. “You were incredible out there,” I whisper against his lips. “I never thought I would say this, but I think I love football.”

He laughs.

“I loved knowing you were up in the stands,” he says, nuzzling my neck. “You were my good luck charm, you know?”

“You didn’t need luck,” I assure him. “You were amazing all on your own.” He smiles against my mouth. “Now take off your clothes.”

“Say what?” He cocks his head at me, looking slightly alarmed.
