Well, it’s Friday and I am meeting Wayne at the PTB Grande at 8 o’clock tonight for dinner. I am so nervous. I don’t know what to do. But for right now I am walking into the mansion, and I have to stay focused on work and not tonight.

When I walk into the kitchen for breakfast everyone is already there waiting for me.

“Good morning, dear,” Dottie said. “Sit down and I will have your coffee and plate to you in a second.”

“Thank you,” I replied.

Then Grayson said, “We are having another day off today. We know you are nervous about tonight so Ava and I decided, one the whole team is coming over and they will be meeting about tonight’s events in the den while the rest of us go out to the pool. Then the men are going to throw some burgers and dogs on the grill for lunch. It is going to be a stress-free day.”

“Wow! You guys are truly amazing. Thank you so much for having my back and taking such good care of me,” I replied.

Ava said, “Family over everything! Always!”

Caroline said, “That’s one thing I learned since I met Matthew is that service members are a family, and they have room for so many more. The people they love and call family, are the people they will go to the ends of the earth to protect.”

“I see that and thank you and Wolf for helping. I appreciate it so much,” I said.

“Okay then, let’s finish breakfast. The team, Detective Conners and Sergeant Harper will all be here in about forty-five minutes,” Grayson said.

I couldn’t believe my ears. Detective Connors, Blair was going to be here, and we were going to be in a bathing suits. I couldn’t wait to see his abs that I knew were always leaking under those button-down shirts he wore to work. My mind went crazy just thinking about it.

After we got cleaned up from breakfast, we all went and changed into our bathing suits. I had one in the pool house from months ago when Grayson and Ava had an employee appreciation cookout and pool party.

When I came back inside everyone had arrived and were heading into the den to come up with the plans for the night.

“Do I need to be in there?” I asked Ava.

“No. We have it covered. Bryan will fill you in on anything you need to know once we are all done,” Ava said. “You just go relax by the pool. Clear your mind and don’t think about tonight.”

“Okay. I don’t know about not thinking about tonight, but I will go out lay out at the pool,” I replied.

About an hour later, everyone came out to the pool and a few of the guys headed to the grill while others headed back inside to grab the food. Bryan came over to me and told me, that he was going to follow me to the restaurant where he is going to meet his wife Katie, Wolf, and Caroline for dinner. Jason will follow Wayne to the restaurant, then he will leave and go home eat and shower.

Four hours later and I am in my apartment getting ready. I felt sick to my stomach. I was so nervous. What happens if I make a mistake and let onto knowing who he is?

I get to the Casino and head to the restaurant. The hostess shows me to our table. He is already there waiting for me. I see Katie, Wolf and Caroline sitting two tables from us on the right. I know Bryan is going to walk in after I do.

We order our food and I keep glancing at the table where Bryan and the others are sitting, praying that Wayne doesn’t notice. He takes my hand and is saying something, but I am off in another world. I snatch my hand back and tell him that I need to go to the restroom. He says okay and that he needs to go too. But when we got near the restroom, he grabs me and pushes me out the side door of the restaurant.

“Wayne what are you doing? Where are we going?” I asked.

“You are acting suspicious and that table that was two tables to our right, you think I didn’t notice you looking at them and them watching us. Who have you been talking to and what do you know?” Wayne asked as he snatched me into his car and started driving away.

“What are you talking about?” I asked.

“Don’t play games with me Emma. I am not stupid,” Wayne said as we speed off and headed out of the city limits.

Meanwhile,back in the restaurant…

“Something isn’t right? Neither of them has come back from the restroom. Katie and Caroline sit here. Wolf takes the front. I will go towards the bathroom. Call me if you see anything,” Bryan said.

“Copy that,” Wolf said.

Two minutes later they met back at the table.

“No sign of them out the front,” Wolf said.

“No sign out the back either,” Bryan said. “Katie, you should head home.”
