“If I wanted her, I could have had her a million times over by now. You’re not exactly dangling a tempting carrot here, Oak.”

He takes a step toward me, his fists curling at his sides. “I’m fucking watching you, Whitfield. I want to believe you’re not that fucking stupid, and that she’s not so fucking blind. But I know you. I know how your mind works, and I know you don’t stop at anything to get what you want. I might fucking love you, but I swear to fuck, if you touch Liv, if you hurt her, I will fucking end you.”

Without another word, or even attempting to take a piss, he blows out of the bathroom as if I imagined that whole thing. But as his threat lingers in my ears, I know it was very, very real.

Goddamn it.

I give myself two more minutes before I convince myself to return to the table and force myself to sit beside desperate Darcie as she flashes her pussy at me every few seconds and Oak glares at me any time he’s not distracted by Misty’s tits.

Fuck my life.

“You’re both coming back to my room, right?” Misty asks once we’ve paid the bill and headed out to find Oak’s car.

“Damn right we are. Right, Whitfield?”

“Actually, we’ve got a game tomorrow and—”

“Whitfield,” Oak growls.

“What? Elliot will cut your balls off if you have a late night. You’ve already pissed all over hisno alcohol three days before a gamerule.

“Fuck Eaton’s rules. I’m not his little bitch.”

My brow lifts as I stare at him, wondering who this version of my best friend is.

Deep down, I know it’s my fault. My leaving, and my fucking his sister, even if he only suspects that to be the case.

“We’ll be back by midnight, and the tyrant will never know.”

“You wanna fucking bet?”

“You need to lighten up, Reese,” Darcie purrs, slipping her hand beneath my black shirt.

“And you need to keep your fucking paws to yourself,” I warn in a tone low enough to ensure Oak can’t hear as he follows Misty up the stairs toward her dorm room.

“What the hell is wrong with you?”

“Nothing,” I spit. “I’m just not interested in someone who’s whored themself through not only the entire student body but also the teachers at All Hallows’.”

Her face turns purple with frustration.

“I haven’t—”

“I don’t wanna hear it, Darce. I’ll follow you upstairs, but rest assured, you’re not so much as getting a look at my cock.”

“And what about the girl you’ve been messaging all night? Is she off-limits too?”

“What? I haven’t been messaging a girl,” I argue, but it’s weak at best. I spent most of the night ignoring everyone around me in my quest to discover if Olivia really was lying about spending the evening with Ben or not.

As of yet, I don’t have my answer. And I really need Oak to be distracted by something so I can slip away and find out the truth.

She might have threatened me with not finishing me off if I were to spend the night with Darcie, but it’s going to be so much worse for her if I discover she’s got anywhere near that motherfucker.
