Krystal?

Slamming my hand down on the ajar door, it swings back against the wall with a loud crash, startling the loved-up couple beyond.

Rounding the corner, my eyes fall on exactly what I was expecting, what I feared. Dad’s sitting on the sofa with my mother’s best friend astride his lap, her traitorous cunt full of his dick.

“Reese, fuck,” Dad barks, instantly flipping them in an attempt to protect Krystal’s fucking virtue.

Bit late for that, if you ask me.

“You’re fucking her? Krystal?” I balk, disgust rolling through me as Dad reaches for his shirt and throws it at her in a rush. “Don’t worry, old man,” I spit when he fumbles. “I have no interest in her fucking tits.”

After tugging his boxers on, he turns to me, his face tomato red. Although I’m not sure if it’s with embarrassment or anger.

“What the hell are you doing here?” Dad booms, getting up in my space while his slut scrambles to her feet.

“Me? I fucking came to see you like you’ve been begging me,” I bark back. “How long?” I ask, throwing my arm out toward Krystal.

“Reese,” he soothes, instantly calming down, but it does little to abate my anger.

“How fucking long?”

He pales, giving me all the answer I need.

“I fucking stood up for you. I stood by you when Mum was the one doing the dirty, and you lied to my fucking face. How long have you been fuckingAuntKrystal, Dad?”

He rubs a hand down his face, guilt etched into his expression. “There’s no easy answer to that, Son.”

“Yeah, there really fucking is. A month. Two. A year. Five?” I rattle off. “How fucking long?”

His lips part, but he seems to forget any words exist.

Luckily for him though, Krystal, a woman I have known since I was just a kid, the woman who is my mother’s best and closest friend, speaks for him. “Twenty years,” she whispers.

Silence falls after that confession, but her words continue to ring out in my ears.

“T-twenty fucking years?” I repeat, my voice eerily calm despite the red-hot fury flooding my veins.

But that means…

No.

No fucking way.

“It’s complicated, Reese. It’s—”

“You motherfucker,” I roar, flying toward my dad, but he’s ready for me and blocks my first few blows.

A red haze descends on me, one that rivals the moment I discovered this exact same thing with my mother and Christian. And all because ofher.

Olivia.

But this isn’t her fault. She didn’t know I was heading here tonight. She didn’t set this up. She wasn’t the orchestrator in shattering even more lies and bullshit than my life is apparently drowning in.

After a couple of minutes with Krystal screaming behind me, I manage to overpower my dad and land a few solid punches to his jaw and gut.

But it doesn’t make me feel better.

The betrayal from both of my parents, from people I’ve trusted all my goddamn life, cuts me so fucking deep I can’t see anything else.
