“Trust me.”

“Trust you? Yeah, right.” Soap courses into my mouth like punishment for not minding my manners. I gag.

My feet touch a warm, wet surface. I hear curtain rings rattle. Then a stream of hot water from the shower head rains on me. My eyes burn too much to object.

I tilt my head upward and let the water pelt against my face. I dig my palms into my eyes until the shampoo washes away. I quickly blink, testing my eyes until there’s no more burning.

My vision focuses to find I’m not alone in the shower.

“You alright?” Johnny’s deep gaze is intensified by his wet eyelashes.

“The sink would’ve sufficed.”

He chuckles and runs his fingers through my hair. “You still have some shampoo.”

I slap his hand away. “I do not need you to shower me.”

Water droplets drip down his face and over his shoulders. Down his chest and to the towel wrapped low on his waist. It’s barely holding on. And the teepee indicates Johnny Creed is happy to see me.Funny thing is, I’m not quite as thrilled.

“I don’t mind.” His low, husky voice sends instant heat to my core. Like the days I’d hoped he would notice me. The nights I’d fantasized he did. All a foolish young girl's dreams.

I’m not that young girl anymore. The young girl who would’ve swooned at being alone in a shower with him. Not this version of me. He can piss right off.

Chapter Two

JOHNNY

––––––––

“WHAT DO YOU think isgoing to happen here, Romeo?”

Little Bexley Gratton is all grown up. And damn, she’s gorgeous. Curves, hips, and hazel eyes filled with enough fire to light a blaze through my body. My current erection says it all.

How didn’t I see her beauty all those years growing up? Had I been so busy planning to leave town that I never stopped to notice her?

No, I’d noticed her.
