Chapter 11

“What the hell are youwearing?”

Damian leaned against my doorjamb, smiling in that slow seductive way that ate at my composure whenever he was near. “I’m dressed up for Samhain.”

I glanced over the ridiculously tall black top hat perched on his head, slightly askew, and the skull makeup that made his red eyes pop. They were swimming in sinful thoughts, and I didn’t have to guess where his mind lingered as he dropped his gaze to the cleavage spilling out of the top of my ebony corset. My eyes narrowed when he didn’t look away. “Stop roaming over my body like it belongs to you.”

‘Doesn’t it, my pet?’

“No,” I blurted loudly, covering up my chest. “Get out.”

Gabriel barreled through Damian on the way in, and the two stared at one another with cool hostility. Their rivalry was evident, but Damian made it worse with the stunt he pulled. I wasn’t so sure I needed his blood to survive when he forced it down my throat after my accident.

Sneaky, deceptive vampire.

Damian narrowed his eyes while Gabriel growled, his mouth gaping wide to bare his canines. Damian flashed his fangs, not to be outdone.

They’d probably enjoy ripping each other apart if given a chance.

Damian laughed and broke the silence. “She thinks we’ll rip each other apart like animals.”

Gabriel chuckled, and I could tell he had thought of it more than once. “We can’t as long as we’re Cosan.”

Whew. I didn’t know why that relieved me, but it did. “That’s good.”

Damian leaned against the wall as Gabriel sauntered closer. I was suddenly reminded of circling sharks attracted by blood in the water. Gabriel’s gaze simmered, full of heat. He leaned in as I sat at my vanity, finishing the last of my makeup for tonight. “You look beautiful as always.” He pressed a soft kiss to the top of my head, his strong scent lingering in the air. “I love the wings on your back.”

“She is rather ravishing. Appropriate that our little Raven has black wings.”

“And the violet is the perfect touch.”

“I prefer the violet color that enters her eyes when she’s full of magic,” Damian admitted.

“Do they?” I asked as I spun around and looked at them both. “Do my eyes really turn violet?”

“You’ve never seen it?” Gabriel asked gently, his finger brushing across my cheek and leaving a shiver behind.

“I’m not exactly looking in a mirror when I cast a spell,” I pointed out with a soft snort.

“I suppose not,” he agreed.

“Yes, my little pet, a purple mist lights up your eyes when you cast a spell or work magic. It’s indescribable.”

Did he just pay me a compliment?

‘I’m not always terrible.’

“Uh-huh.” I rolled my eyes as he winked.

Gabriel took the makeup from my hands and pulled me gently to my feet. With his eyes locked on mine, he leaned in and pressed a light kiss upon my lips. “That’s the best I can do without ruining your makeup.”

‘I’d ruin your makeup just for fun.’

I ignored the vampire.

‘And you’d love it.’
