I cut Chloe off. “Please tell me, Piper,” I beg her. I need answers and not getting them is breaking me. Waiting for Chloe to grow a conscience could take years and I don’t have that time. I need Blaire to know the truth the moment I do.

“She…she drugged you. With a roofie. I heard her talking with some of the other girls. She wanted to ruin your relationship.”

Levi moves toward the girl’s side, sensing Chloe’s wrath coming down on Piper.

Never in my life have I ever been this angry. Grabbing the closest thing to me, I launch it in Chloe’s direction. The lamp misses her and shatters against the wall. “What the hell is wrong with you!”

There is clear fear in Chloe’s eyes, and I don’t even care. Never have I wanted to make someone so scared of me before. Someone comes up and grips my shoulder. “Camden, man, come on. You got the answers you needed. You can’t hurt her, though,” Mateo says as he glares at Chloe.

“Why? Why shouldn’t I fuck with her like she thinks she can with other people?” I stare at Chloe and swallow the lump in my throat, afraid to ask the last question I need an answer to. “D-did you fuck me?”

She looks between my friends and the girl I am forever grateful for standing in the doorway. She rolls her eyes. “No. Even with my best efforts, you couldn’t get it up. So don’t worry, you didn’t cheat on your precious virgin.”

Mateo’s arms come around my shoulders as I lunge forward. “Not worth it, man. We’ll get her back, I promise.”

As I stare at the most hated person in my life, I take a few deep breaths. “I can promise you this, I am going to make your life a living hell. Just wait, Chloe. You’re going to regret every choice you have ever made.”

Turning, I head toward the door. My friends follow me as I pass them and together, we walk down the hallway that is filled with clone-looking sorority girls. I turn to Levi. “Grab Piper.”

He gives me a questioning look. “Why?”

“One, she can’t stay here. Not after being truthful and outing Chloe. And second, I need her help.”

“With what?”

I look between my friends. My teammates. Four guys who have had my back for the last two years and who I would trust with my life and take a bullet for. “We’re going to the police station.”

The last sevenhours have been hell. Not only did I get strange looks from every cop at the police station after saying I was roofied and assaulted, but I was poked and prodded at the hospital by multiple nurses and doctors as they collected pictures, blood samples, and swabs for their records. Even though I told them I was not raped, they said it was protocol to do every test.

The good news is that the blood test came back positive for Rohypnol. Even though Chloe confirmed what Piper said, it hit that I was actually roofied. You hear about this stuff in the news and on TV, but I never thought it would happen to me. Never have I even known someone who was drugged. Until Blaire, I never knew someone who was assaulted either.

Blaire. It has been hard knowing the truth all this time and not being able to tell her. Before we headed to the police station, I considered stopping by Blaire’s apartment and telling her everything that happened and asking her to be there for me during this, but I needed to wrap my head around everything. I was also scared if she was with me now that it would bring back flashbacks of what happened to her, and I wouldn’t want her to ever relive that.

The two officers who have been asking me questions and followed us to the hospital are standing in the room, once again asking me more questions.

“Looks like we have everything we need, and a deputy has been sent to pick up Miss Stevens from the address you provided us. She will be arrested and charged with a variety of crimes such as assault and infliction of bodily harm. These charges are a felony and, if found guilty, she will face a good amount of prison time,” Officer McNally explains to me and Maddox, who has been in the room with me most of the time. The rest of the guys and Piper are out in the waiting room.

I don’t know much about the law or how this all works, so I just nod. “Um, will I have to go to court or anything?”

“Yes. You won’t need a lawyer or anything. Unless everyone decides to settle, you will be called to the stand and need to make a statement to the jury. The prosecutor that handles the case will go over everything with you.”

“Okay, that sounds fine.” It feels weird talking about this stuff. Like I’m in an episode ofLaw&Orderor something.

“If you don’t have any more questions, you should be able to be discharged.” He looks down at his notepad. “We’ll go over the information you provided us with the prosecutor, and she should reach out to you soon about the case.”

“Sounds good.”

Officer McNally and his partner exit the room and I breathe out a sigh of relief. I’m ready for this day to be over with. I need to go to Blaire’s apartment and beg her to let me explain.

“How’re you holding up, man?” Maddox asks. He comes over and takes the seat next to the hospital bed I have been sitting on. They tried to get me to change into a hospital gown, but I refused. I had hit my limit for the day and the nurse understood.

I rub my eyes with my palms. “I don’t even know, Mad. This doesn’t even feel real. Like fuck, I was drugged and assaulted. I feel like an idiot not watching out for Chloe to try something like this.” Taking a deep breath, I admit something I have been trying not to think about. “I’m embarrassed. Like shit, she assaulted me. She would have fucking raped me, dude. That shit doesn’t happen to guys.”

“Don’t downplay this,” Maddox says in a serious tone I have never heard before. “And don’t be embarrassed. This can happen to anyone, and it’s fucked-up, but it is true. It happens too much and the fact that you reported it means a lot. That’s strong, Camden. It takes a lot for someone to report this shit, especially a guy.”

“I don’t feel strong. Shit, I feel stupid for even reporting it. She didn’t actually rape me, but the fact that she tried. That she touched me while I was drugged and passed out? I feel like I need to take twenty showers.”
