He made a strained sound in the back of his throat like he was trying to eke every last bit of pleasure out of the moment. “Come for me again, Sweets. I feel you squeezing me. I know you can. Milk me dry, baby.”

The filthiness of the request was like lighting a match to her libido. Another orgasm, sharper than the first, crashed into her, and she yelped in surprise at the suddenness of it.

Len let out a choked shout and sunk deep, grinding into her as he came in long, hard shudders.

When they were done, he collapsed onto his forearms above her, both of them panting like they’d run a marathon. She finally let go of the headboard and circled her arms around his neck. When he kissed her this time, slow and sweet, she felt her heart turn over in her chest.

He lifted his head and smiled down at her before kissing her nose. “Be right back.”

He rolled off of her to dispose of the condom but before he could leave, there was a swift knock at the front door. The sound made her jump.

He frowned, looking toward his bedroom door. “I wonder if Auden forgot his key. He’s usually not back this early.”

“Maybe it’s a package or something,” she said, pulling the covers over her.

“Maybe.” He tugged on his jeans sans underwear. “Give me a sec.”

She listened to him head to the front and open the door, but when she heard a familiar raised voice, she quickly grabbed a T-shirt and a pair of Len’s boxers. She hurried out to the front, trying to smooth down her hair.

“I’m not leaving until you show me proof,” the visitor said. “Let me in, dude, like right the hell now.”

“I promise she’s fine. She’s in the shower. She’s—”

O’Neal walked into the living room in view of the front door. Quyen was standing there, arms crossed and expression determined. When she caught sight of O’Neal, she did a double take.

“Oh. Hey. Youarehere.”

A shirtless Len opened the door wider and turned toward O’Neal and mouthed,Sorry.

O’Neal cleared her throat, discomfort flooding her. “Yeah. Hi. Um, what are you doing here?”

“You didn’t text me this morning to check in. We’re supposed to do that. You know, our system.”

O’Neal cringed.Crap.She and Quyen had agreed that if they stayed over somewhere or would be out late, they would tell the other the address of where they would be and they would check in the next morning. She’d done the first part but had forgotten the second.

“Oh God, Quyen. I’m so sorry. I…lost track of how late it’d gotten.”

Quyen gave Lennox a suspicious once-over, pausing at the unopened button of his jeans where a line of hair disappeared. She looked back to O’Neal. “Are you okay? Where’s Auden?”

“I’m fine. He’s at swim practice.” Her mind was scrambling for what to say, trying to come up with a logical explanation for why she was here with a half-dressed Lennox.

Quyen’s eyes narrowed and she gave Len a look. “I’m gonna need you to leave for a minute,” she said. “I need to talk to O’Neal alone.”

Len lifted his hands. “No problem. I’ll be in my room.”

Lennox walked past O’Neal, giving her another apologetic look, and then disappeared down the hallway. Quyen came inside and shut the door behind her. She rushed over to O’Neal and put her hands on O’Neal’s shoulders.

“Look me in the face and tell me you’re okay. If he’s done anything to you and—”

O’Neal winced. “I love you for this. But I really am fine. I swear.”

“Then what the hell is going on?” she said in frustration. “I was knocking forever. I saw your car out there and got scared.”

Her stomach dropped. She hated that she’d caused Quyen even a moment of worry. How would she feel if Quyen had done something like this to her? “I’m so sorry. I’m a terrible friend. We…didn’t hear.”

Her eyebrows shot up. “We?”

“I—”
