His orgasm was renewed when Cole choked out a cry as pulse after pulse of his cum shot into Ava, his cock throbbing with every one.

Breathless, Bryce’s muscles turned into limp noodles. He huffed out a laugh and used every ounce of strength he possessed to reach out and touch Ava’s cheek and Cole’s forearm. Ava slumped down beside him, groaning as he and Cole slipped free of her.

Cole hit the other side of the mattress and pressed a kiss to Bryce’s shoulders. “We’ve missed you.”

“So much,” Ava agreed on a mumble.

“Me too. Don’t want to be apart again.”

“Never.”

The noise woke him far earlier than he wanted to be awake. Ava was still tucked into his side, barely having moved after Cole cleaned them up. Cole was facing away from him, using Bryce’s arm as a pillow, but he was holding it to his chest in a vice grip. Bryce couldn’t get up even if he wanted to. He blinked his eyes open as Ava nuzzled into him and he gasped. Fuck, that hurt.

She was instantly awake, shifting back in a panic. “You okay? What happened?”

He looked down at his torso and winced. His side was a mottled purple. Bryce opened his mouth to speak when the banging sounded again. That was what had woken him. “What time is it?” he rasped.

“Too early,” Cole mumbled.

“Bryce, open up. You need to see this,” Jake called.

Ava slid out of bed, pulled on Bryce’s shirt, and padded out the door, closing it behind her. Cole sighed.

“If we hide in here, do you think they’ll go away?”

“Doubtful,” Bryce mumbled, rolling onto his side with a choked cry as he stretched his bruised side and cuddled into Cole.

“Bryce, Cole, seriously get up,” Ava announced, her voice a higher pitch than normal. It wasn’t panic; it was something else. But hearing her tone was enough to jolt them into action.

Bryce moved like an old man, his ribs tender. Bending down to reach for the pair of track pants he kept in the bottom of the wardrobe was a mission, but they were easy to get on. When he was finally decent, he admired Cole’s butt in his training shorts. He loved seeing his people wear his clothes. It sounded stupid, but Bryce felt like he was providing for them—ironic given that they’d earned as much from their business in a few short months as he would from playing football for a whole year.

“Bloody hell,” Cole exclaimed, lifting Bryce’s arm to get a closer look at his side. “We need to get you checked out. You might have cracked a rib. Are you going in for a recovery session this morning?”

Bryce looked at his phone, checking the time and nodded. “I’ve got a couple of hours, but yeah, the doc will want to do an X-ray.” He pressed his fingers to his side, grateful that the pain wasn’t too sharp. “I think it’s just bruised. I hope it is.”

“Come on, let’s go figure out what’s so important that we’re being woken up at the arse crack of dawn.”

As Cole opened the door, Bryce inhaled the unmistakeable scent of excellent coffee. His stomach growled and he grinned at Ava who was already getting bacon and eggs out of the fridge.

She ducked back into their room as Bryce greeted Jake and Phoenix who were standing there in almost matching shorts and hoodies. Phoenix handed him a coffee from the tray he was carrying.

“Thank you.” Bryce inhaled deep, waking his body up as the scent of the rich brew filled his lungs. Taking a long drink, he sighed happily before asking, “What’s going on?”

Jake’s smile was forced but he spun the newspaper sitting on the kitchen bench around and pointed to the page one headline.

Top lawyer charged with extortion. Facing 14 years jail.

The picture was of a cuffed Denyer being led out of his mansion, two uniformed police officers flanking him.

“Woah, she did it,” he breathed, shocked and in awe.

Cole wandered in from the bathroom and grumbled, “Why are you awake?”

“You’re a tradie. Don’t you always wake up early?” Phoenix asked, passing him the remaining coffee. Cole placed a cool hand low on Bryce’s hip and took a long sip, his Adam’s apple bobbing as he swallowed.

“It’s Sunday,” Ava explained as she walked back in, dressed in jeans and a lightweight shirt. “His only day to sleep in.”
