He’s proven his love for my sister. But if he hadn’t, I’d love nothing more than killing him just to get some of this anger out of me.

With Addie near Chelsea’s head, Maxim settles for his hand on her ankle.

“The doctor says touching her and talking to her can help.

He said she may be able to hear us, and it makes her feel safe.” He rubs over his messy hair. “I’ve run out of things to say.”

Even though I hate the idiot, I kind of feel sorry for him. Every time I’ve checked in on her, he’s been talking his ass off. Nothing’s worked so far.

Addie nods and offers him a soft smile. “I can take over for a while.”

Her head swings toward me, and she squints at me with her adorable irritation. “I’ve got tons of things to tell her.”

I chuckle. “Yeah, bitching about me will definitely wake her up.”

I earn a little bit of grin before she turns back to Chelsea.

“So it finally happened. We’re officially sisters-in-law. That’s the only good part about your brother being so bossy and stubborn and crazy. He married me while I was unconscious and forged my signature. I’m pretty sure that’s illegal but who’s going to do anything against this big evil monster everyone is terrified of? No one, that’s who.”

Nobody enjoys her fiery discourse more than me. But when my phone vibrates in my pocket, I know I’m going to have to jet temporarily.

With strict instructions to my team that if they disturb me with something inconsequential, they will die. This text must be what I’ve been waiting on.

Kirill’s ready for you

A restorative calm overtakes me from the news. I’m going to enjoy making this motherfucker suffer.

I text back to have four more guards sent to the hospital for my absence. I slip my cell back into my jacket and drop to my haunches next to my girl. I stroke over her tangled hair and cup her cheek. “I have to go take care of the man who did this. I’ll be back as soon as I can. My men are here so you’re safe.”

Her eyes search mine as she frowns. The desire for justice with the reality of death battles in her good heart. On the other hand, I don’t have that issue so that’s why I handle things like this on their behalf. “I love you. Take care of my baby while I’m gone.”

She slowly nods. The reminder of our child earns me approval.

“I love you too. Be careful.”

I kiss her and rise, motioning for Maxim to follow me out. He closes the door behind us, shutting out Addie’s soft voice encouraging Chels to get better so she can plan a wedding.

“I’ve got your brother.”

Pain flashes in his expression before his face hardens again. I guess they once loved each other. “I’m going to deal with him first. Then you can have what’s left. But at the end this will all be over for good.”

I doubt there are any bugs planted in the hospital from our presence. But you never know.

Maxim gets the message. He knows I’m going to torture the hell out of Kirill first and then if Maxim doesn’t kill him, I will. End of story. No other option for someone who hurt my family.

He scrubs up and down his face. Annoying as fuck. I’m not asking his permission, so I don’t know why he acts like I am. Finally, he drops his hands and nods.

“He’s my brother. I will be the one.”

Fine.

“When we were kids…”

Jesus. I don’t give a fuck. This trip down memory lane needs to be solo.

“He was the one who jumped into keep my father from beating our mother to death. My father almost killed him for that. I wasn’t sure if he’d ever recover.”

He sucks in a deep breath. “Now this. Him almost killing our women. I just…All this violence ruins you.”
