“Okay, fair enough. Then you might not want to wear your work boots for a while.”

He gives me a shocked look. “You messed with my boots?”

I giggle. “It was an act of hatred, I swear.”

“That’s it, woman.” He rolls me over and climbs on top of me. “You’re gonna pay for that.”

And I happily do. All night long.

Chapter Ten

Braxton

Waking up with Kat in my arms is absolutely fucking magical. Pretty sure this woman has already roped my heart, and I don’t ever want it back; it’s hers. When she stirs, I place a gentle kiss on her lips.

“Don’t forget about our date later,” I remind her.

She pulls me closer. “I won’t. Seven o’clock sharp.”

Her sleepy haze sucks me in, and I groan against her mouth. “I have to go,” I tell her, frowning.

“No.”

I chuckle. “I’ll see you tonight. Don’t worry, I’ll miss you until then.” Wrapping my hand around her waist, I palm her ass and squeeze.

“Okay, that’s not helping.” She giggles. “You better leave before neither of us has the willpower to stop.”

Pressing my lips to hers once more, I smile at her sweetness. “Have a good day, baby.”

I slide out of bed and put on my clothes, then go straight to work. I have tomorrow off, and I can’t wait to spend the day with Kat.

We’ve seen each other a couple of times since I asked her out on a proper date, and I admit I’m falling for her hard and fast. She’s addicting as hell. After a few days of thinking what to do, I decided I wanted to make it super special and private for us. Instead of making her a fancy dinner like Colton and Jackson did when they were trying to swoon their women, I called her grandma Gigi and asked her to cook Kat’s favorite meal.

After I get off work and go home and shower, I pick up a dozen roses from the grocery store, then head over to Gigi’s. I have something super fun planned, and I hope she’s shocked as hell.

Gigi gives me containers of beef tips, gravy, and green beans. She even packed it all into a picnic basket. Before sending me on my way with kisses and hugs, she gives me a firm warning. “You be good to my granddaughter, you hear?”

“Yes ma’am,” I reassure her with a grin and a tilt of my cowboy hat before I get back into my truck. Gigi found out about me and Kat through Mila, who I swear has told the whole town. It’s only been a few days since Kat and I came to an understanding agreed to a truce. All she did was accede to a date, and I know it doesn’t mean I’m going to marry her…yet.

Kat has asked me several times what to wear, and I’ve only told her to dress in something comfortable as to not give away my plans. My nerves begin to get the best of me when I make my way down the road and park in front of her house. I can’t help the thoughts that wander as I sit and stare at her front door. Is she going out with me just to be nice because we’re physically attracted to either and have off the charts hot sex? Or is there something more between us? Even though I’m doubting myself, my heart already knows the answer to that.

I leave the picnic basket in the back of the truck, then knock on her door with the roses in my hand. When she answers, she’s wearing tight blue jeans that look as if they’re painted on and a cute sleeveless shirt that shows off her cleavage. As my eyes gaze down her body, I see she’s even wearing a pair of cowboy boots.

“Damn girl,” I say, handing her the bouquet of roses. Kat grins and pops an eyebrow at me, almost as if she knows the effect she has on me. Turning, she takes the flowers into the house and arranges them in a vase of water.

“Thank you. These are beautiful,” she tells me, leaning over to smell them.

“Beautiful flowers for a beautiful lady.” I smirk.

“You know I’m immune to that cowboy Casanova bullshit, right?”

I snicker because that’s what Jackson calls all the guys who have a little swagger.

“But are you really?” I lick my lips and watch her stare at my mouth. A grin touches my lips. “Didn’t think so.”

She rolls her eyes and groans. “Fine. Maybe I’m not completely immune.”

“That’s what I thought. You ready to go?” I ask, looking her up and down, memorizing every curve of her body.

“Am I dressed okay?” she asks.

“Might want to bring a jacket.”

Her eyes go wide. “A jacket?”

“Yes ma’am,” I tell her with a grin, and she goes to grab one. We head out the door and drive over to the Bishop ranch. She looks at me confused when we park in front of the B&B.
