I narrow my eyes at him. This is not the time. But he doesn’t do anything, just sits there with his arm draped over my shoulder, sort of shielding me from the reality of the pictures in front of me.

“So, I stood out,” I reason, ignoring that last comment, “and they just, what? Decided to add me to the database? For what? What do they get out of it?”

Spencer winces.

“Yeah, I don’t know…” Diego mumbles.

“Oh, hey, Lindy!” Trevor announces as he comes into the suite.

Zeke follows immediately behind him, grinning as soon as he sees me, but then his expression changes when he takes the temperature of the room and finds it chillier than he expected. Spencer casts him a dark look.

“What’s going on?” Zeke asks carefully.

“We found Lindy on the BUST,” Diego explains.

“Yikes,” Zeke cringes.

“What? Cool!” Trevor blurts out, then looks around, confused. “What’s the problem? I bet she is making loads of money from subscriptions, right?”

My jaw falls open.

Subscriptions?

“I don’t know anything about that!” Diego objects immediately. “I don’t have access to this whole system. I didn’t even know they did that! Trevor? Where did you hear that?”

Trevor startles, as though caught in the middle of a bad act.

“Wait, are you guys mad? I don’t know. I just heard there is a webcam or something? Videos maybe.”

“Where did you hear this?” Spencer asks, walking toward him.

“Jeez, I don’t know,” Trevor objects. “Some of the guys were talking about it, I guess? Does this… Is Lindy—”

“Trevor, it’s okay,” I reassure him.

I hate to see him looking so lost and confused. Poor guy. Out of all of them, he’s probably the most sweet. He reminds me of this Great Dane that used to live up the street from me when I was growing up. He wasn’t our dog, but he was always in the front yard of the house on the corner.

Every day after school, I would sit on the sidewalk side of the fence and push my arm through so I could pat the top of his flea-infested head. He would rest his chin on his massive paws and look up at me with weepy, grateful eyes.

“Well, I didn’t—”

“Really, it’s okay,” I insist. “We’re just trying to figure it out, is all. I appreciate your concern.”

He scrubs his hand through his shaggy blond hair, furrowing his brow as he concentrates.

“Some of the guys in horticulture, maybe?” he murmurs. “I’m not really sure.”

“It’s okay, it doesn’t matter who did it,” I shrug.

The guys all look at me. Obviously, this is not the reaction they were expecting.

What can I say? I feel exposed, violated, annoyed. But, what? It’s not like I got caught insider trading or doing anything I should be embarrassed about. I didn’t do anything wrong. Whoever has been taking those pictures is the asshole. Not me.

“Well, you can’t go back there,” Spencer sniffs.

I cross my arms. “I can’t go back where, exactly?”

He crosses his arms, a mirror image of me but much taller, much bigger.
