“It was a little spilled coffeeweeksago,” I say over my shoulder. “How long are you going to let that embarrass you?”

“I wish it was only the coffee,” she mutters, slipping into the back before I can tell her to wait to hear Rowan’s good news. I briefly notice Garrett Bradley following Aurora into the back. But I’m too distracted by the man I love to pay much attention to whatever those two have going on.

“It’s official,” Rowan says, gathering me into his arms and swooping in for a kiss. “Grant Bellinger signed the offer.”

“Mountain Primeisreallyyours?”

“It’sours, babe.” Rowan kisses me again, and I melt into him. Completely oblivious to the crowd until the whistles start. “And guess what else?”

“What?”

“Dad’s coming for the grand opening.”

“That’s great news!” Within a day of the big family fight, Arthur showed up at the diner to apologize to Rowan. He knew Rowan wasn’t happy working for the family business, which is why he summoned Cas home. But he had no idea what Rowan really wanted to do until that fight. After Rowan make a special order of eggs benedict, Arthur was the one who suggested Rowan buy the steakhouse. Cas, on the other hand, hasn’t entirely come around. He’s a little sore about having to find a new vice president. But I’m hopeful things will mend between them with time.

“What’s this good news I hear?” Grandma Rose and Grandma Dottie both appear at the counter at the same time.

“We’re buyingMountain Prime!” I announce.

“I think that calls for a celebration,” Grandma Rose declares. “Everyone, we’re headed to theCaribou Creek Breweryas soon as the food’s gone. Seems like we have a lot to celebrate tonight. Drinks are on me!”

“And me!” Grandma Dottie chimes in.

“We might have one more thing to celebrate,” Rowan says, dropping down to one knee.

Gasps echo throughout the diner as it falls silent. My heart races uncontrollably in my chest. Is this really happening right now? Is my best friendproposingto me? Rowan flips open the ring box and a diamond nearly blinds me.

“Kinley Gray, I’ve loved you since we were nine years old. Before I even knew what love was all about. You’re the only woman who’s ever cause my heart to skip a beat. I know it’ll always be that way, too.” He takes my hand. “And I know you saw me naked that day at the creek.”

I slap a hand over my mouth, half gasping, half laughing.

“Will you do me the honor of being my wife?”

Tears fall from the corners of my eyes as I struggle to get the wordyesto leave my lips. I’m choked up with so much emotion. I nod vigorously, relieved when Rowan slips that beautiful ring onto my finger. “I love you.”

He cups my cheek, drawing me in for a deep kiss that promises a private celebration tonight when we finally make it home. Bear lets out a deep bark, causing the diner patrons to erupt in collective laughter.

“I love you more, Kin. Always.”

THE END
