“A glimpse is all I need. I have a photographic memory,” she said seeing their surprise and a hint of hope in their expressions. “I could draw the plans for it for you but my hand’s kind of tied up at the moment. You’ll have I’m guessing eleven seconds to stop it from the time I release this; that’s his favorite number.”

Jim studied her for a minute before asking, “Walk me through it now; tell me what we’d need.”

“Under the release is a tiny plate with three screws you’ll have to undo them and remove it to get to the wires. There will be four blue, two red, two green, and three yellow, you’ll have to cut them in the order red two, blue three and yellow one.”

“Wait so both the red wires, three of the blue and one of the yellow?”

“No, that’s the number of the wire but you have to make sure that you count from the left and start with the red set of wires being on the right.”

“Eleven seconds?” Jim asked.

“Positive…”

“Get me the kits and I’m going to need another set of hands so get someone to get her out of here the second she lets go of that release,” Jim told Galen.

“No, that’s not it,” she warned as he left.

“What do you mean that’s not it?”

“Once you cut the wires the back-up will start. You’ll have eleven seconds to disarm it.”

“You’re kidding,” he said in disbelief.

“No, and I don’t think you’ll be able to do the calculation fast enough,” she warned him.

“What calculation?”

“The one the display there will show. Can you do advanced calculus in your head?”

“I can barely do calculus on paper.”

“Then I stay,” she stated. “Killing yourself won’t stop this, the chemicals will create a flash that will set off the sprinklers which will only spread the base chemical further and one tiny little spark will ignite it all.”

“You just couldn’t have some accountant fall for you, could you?” Jim asked as Galen returned with another man.

“Change of plans unless either of you can solve a calculus problem in your head in eleven seconds,” Jim warned.

“Who can?” Galen asked.

“Me, but you might want to get out while you can just in case,” she warned. “Someone will need to tell them how to contain and stop this if we don’t keep it from exploding,” she added as she told them the chemicals involved.

“Go Joe you’ve got kids,” Galen stated as they laid out the tools.

The third nodded and left again. She looked at Jim and Galen as she took a deep breath. “Ready?”

“Whenever you are,” Jim assured her.

She cleared her mind, pushing everything out of the way and nodded. As they were poised on either side of her, she released her finger and the readout started at exactly eleven seconds. She watched it and their progress as they reached the wires.

“Red on the right,” she warned as they started counting.

“Red two, blue three and yellow one, right?” Jim said as they turned the wires over.

“Yeah,” she agreed as her heart raced and they cut the final one as it reach one second. She didn’t have time to breathe as the display reset to eleven and a problem flashed onto the screen below it. “Freaking crack head,” she muttered to herself as she ran the problem through her mind. It was insane and she went over it twice as the clock reached three seconds. She entered the number for the answer and closed her eyes as she hit the final number, praying she was right.

“What the hell is going on?” Jake demanded reaching Bryant’s side as the man that’d just went inside returned.
