“That’s not what I hoped to hear,” she stated giving the two a smile.

“Stacey…oh my goodness…oh honey…”

“Hi Leo, Rebecca…”

“Stacey, how?” Leo asked looking between her and Jake who kissed her hand.

“You remember Miles? He was getting married in February, so I flew out here to attend, be his best man. He tried to get me out here for the last couple years to meet his girlfriends’ friend Stacey, but I refused to, figured I’d meet her at the wedding but never excepted it to be Cee.”

“Wait so you know Miles and his wife?” Rebecca asked her.

“Emma and I lived together while I finished college up here. She became like a sister to me, and I stayed.”

“Cee introduced Miles and Emma.”

“It is so good to see you honey,” Rebecca stated. “Jake, I can’t believe you didn’t tell us you were there all this time or that you’d found her there.”

“I’ve been a bit busy trying to convince her to give me a second chance, took a bit to also get the team to take me.”

“So, you’re staying there for Stacey?” Leo asked.

“I am. I’m going to prove that I’m the man for her. She’s not getting rid of me as easily as the rest of…”

“Jake hush,” she said covering his mouth with her hand.

“What’s that about?” Rebecca asked laughing at the sight.

“Cee’s the town heartbreaker,” Jake said removing her hand. “She’s got a slew of guys her friends call the Brokens here that moon after her.”

“He’s exaggerating there aren’t that many that I’ve actually dated. Most were only single dates that rarely lasted through the main course.”

“That’s all it takes to fall for you though,” he countered.

“Is that why you didn’t show up at the church and sent Stacey running away from all of us?” Rebecca questioned.

“It wasn’t entirely his fault Rebecca; we were too young.”

“Well, we’re going to get up there as soon as we can because I need to know that you’re really there,” she replied. “We all miss you.”

“I miss you all and Georgia too, it was really good to see you both.”

“Amazing to see you Stacey, Jake you better be good to her this time, or I’ll tan your hide,” Leo warned.

“I think I’m a little old for that but I’m not going to hurt her ever again.”

“Good,” he stated.

“It’s such a shame the class didn’t know where you were, they’re holding your reunion this coming weekend Stacey.”

“Wow, I can’t believe it’s been ten years.”

“Who’s to say we can’t crash it?” Jake said giving her a smile. “I don’t think anyone would mind and we could fly down to see Mom and Dad for a few days.”

“I’d have to clear my schedule but why not?” she agreed seeing the hopeful expressions from his parents.

“Perfect, we’ll see you sometime this next weekend then. Let us know when you’ll get here. We can’t wait to see you honey,” Rebecca said, and they ended the call.

“You’re sure you want to do this? What if the papers can scrounge up the information that quickly?”
