“No, the last Jake was always more of a moan, it’d start low and end high, and then you’d cling to me while your body pulsed beneath mine and I’d slip over the edge just as you bucked against me one last time,” he whispered into her ear.

She could feel him come to life with every word, just as she did. A need she hadn’t felt in years began to claw its way towards the surface and she knew the only way to tame it was to get him angry enough to walk away, now.

“Funny the only thing I remember is wishing it’d be over,” she said boldly. “And I’m the one with the photographic memory remember?”

She felt him tense and knew she needed to keep going, “In fact, it wasn’t until after you’d left me that I really learned what it was like to soar, as you called it, but I think it helped that he was, how should I say, very well endowed. A lot more than you ever were, and he didn’t gloss over certain aspects of the anatomy like teenagers.”

Jake went rigid but mercifully the song ended, and she was able to make her way over to Emma and hug her before they left. She slowly walked back towards the reception hall but knowing that Jake was still there decided instead to go up to the room they had reserved for Emma to change in and spend the night there. She didn’t feel like waiting for a cab to take her home and she wasn’t going to walk at this time of night so instead, she changed out of her bridesmaids’ gown and into the old t-shirt she kept around for bed.

She couldn’t stop her mind from going back over the entire day’s events and was almost glad to hear a knock at the door. It’d probably be Lisa or Celia wanting to see if they could crash with her because they were too tipsy to make it home. She opened the door and her jaw hit the floor.

“Jake? What are you doing here?” she added when he didn’t say anything.

Jake simply stared at her, taking in the sight of her standing in his old t-shirt, with her beautiful dark blonde hair hanging around her shoulders the ends curling after being up all day in a twist, the light from the room outlined her body beneath the shirt and everything else faded away. He stepped inside her room pushing the door closed behind him and stared down at her heart shaped face, with the soft blue-grey eyes that held all of the promises in the world.

“Jake,” she said taking a step away from him, instinctively knowing he’d never hurt her, but still wary of where this was leading. “How did you know I was here?”

“I watched to see if you left, when you didn’t, I knew you’d be right here.”

“Because you know me so well?” she said sarcastically.

“Exactly,” he agreed, stepping closer yet again, “which is precisely how I know you’re lying about what you said downstairs on the dance floor.”

“Is that so?”

“Yes, you didn’t sleep with anyone else after you left town, you said so yourself in your speech, you were too busy working and taking classes.”

“And what exactly do you think I was doing during all of the study sessions? I have…”

“A photographic memory, yes I know, just answer me this, where did you get that shirt?”

Stacey looked down at the faded tee and instantly her mind went back to their first time. She’d been so worried that it wouldn’t be right but her fears for once hadn’t materialized. She was lying in his arms when she suddenly realized she was completely naked. He saw her blush, grabbed the shirt out of his dresser, and slipped it over her head. Later when she tried to give it back to him, he refused, claiming it looked better on her than it ever had on him and every night she wasn’t with him, she spent in it.

“Remember how it was between us?” he asked. “From the very first time through the last it was always the same, amazing.”

“It was okay,” she said feeling the stirrings again but determined to stop them. “But honestly it was so much better after you. I knew the mechanics, but didn’t know the art, someone else taught me that.”

“You’re lying,” he growled.

“Come on Jake, do you really think that in eight years I haven’t slept with anyone? Where do you think I’ve been living…a nunnery? Sorry but I wasn’t, in fact I’ve had quite the enjoyable sex life without you.” She lied. There hadn’t been anyone in her life the way he’d been, no matter how much she’d wanted to forget him she couldn’t, him or the way he made her feel.

“Cee, shut up.”

“No Jake, I won’t. This is my room and I’ll say whatever I want. Does it hurt your precious little feelings knowing I found someone else who could take me places you never could?” she asked knowing he was nearly to the breaking point. “Someone who was able to discover every single spot on my body that could make me sing, squirm, and react?”

“Cee…”

“Someone who made me forget what it was like havingeverbeen with you?” she added virtually hearing a crack shoot through the room. She tried to stop the grin that threatened to steal across her face and while doing so missed Jake’s instantaneous movement across the room, until he crushed her in his arms and his mouth was on hers.

His lips demanded everything from her and as much as she tried to resist her body betrayed her. It began to sing and hum with just his kisses and when he lifted his head and stated, “You’ve never forgotten this,” she didn’t argue. The moment his mouth was back on top of hers her heart raced causing her to gasp for breath.

He used the gasp as an invitation and soon their tongues were dueling as much now as they had been earlier. She tried to protest when he lifted her off the floor to deepen the kiss, but her legs wound themselves around his waist and her hands threaded through his hair.

One arm around her waist kept her secured to him as his other hand ran along the curve of her bottom, down her leg and back up, and then more slowly, up under the shirt and towards her aching breast. The tips were already tight buds when his hand finally found one and he tested the weight of it comparing them to his memory.

Suddenly his arms let go and she grasped his shoulders to keep from falling. With both hands he expertly discarded the shirt and lowered his head until his mouth covered her breast, and his hands kneaded her ass. He suckled and she arched her back thrusting her hips into his hardness.

A small whimper escaped her mouth and he grinned; she was half afraid he would leave knowing he’d won while the other half of her brain told her there was no way he could walk away now. They were both too far gone to stop.
