I took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. “I know you’re a good kid—even though you’re joining the ARMY. And I appreciate that you stepped up and told me, which is the only reason I’m going to let it go this time. That, and you're leaving soon.” Kane would turn eighteen the following week and was headed off to West Point. He was following in his old man’s footsteps, but that didn’t mean I wasn’t going to give him shit for being a grunt.

He nodded, “Thank you, sir.”

Then I narrowed my eyes and growled, “Just so long as it doesn’t happen again.”

Kane’s eyes strayed to the pool where Kambria was playing with all the little kids, and I briefly wondered if he was going to defy me. But his jaw hardened and he looked me straight in the eyes when he answered. “We probably won’t see each other again after today anyway. Like you said, I’ll be at West Point soon, then on active duty.” It didn’t escape my notice that he hadn’t actually agreed that it would never happen again. But he was right, so I accepted his response.

Later that night, after I’d thoroughly punished my wife and she’d apologized with her mouth…twice, Cora cuddled into my side and murmured, “I know you can’t imagine our girls dating and getting married.”

“Never gonna happen.” I glowered.

She sighed and pinched my side, making me wince. “You can’t live in denial forever, babe. So, when the day comes that you have to face it, you have to admit that Kane Lions is exactly the type of man we’d want for our girls.”

“They could do worse,” I replied, grudgingly.

Cora giggled. “Well, I suggest you let the idea sink in for the next few years.”

I dipped my chin so that I could look into her eyes. “Why would I need to do that?”

“I saw how he looked at Kambria.”

“What the fuck?” I snarled, my post-sex haze quickly dissipating.

“Don’t go all Neanderthal, Huntley. I’m positive that he hasn’t figured out how he feels about her either. And considering his path for the next few years, I doubt he will until she’s much older.”

“I’ll just have to lock her in a tower so they never see each other again,” I said grumpily.

Cora giggled and rolled onto of me, then sat up, straddling my hips and cradling my growing erection in the warmth of her pussy. “I love you, Huntley. You’re the best husband and father I could have ever dreamed of. Even if you’re a caveman sometimes.”

“I’ll show you a caveman, gingersnap,” I rasped. I grasped her waist and raised her up, then slammed her down onto my cock. Keeping one hand wrapped around her hip, I tunneled the other into her hair and gripped it tight. “Ride me, woman,” I grunted like a true Neanderthal. “Fuck me hard.”

She gave me a snappy salute and moaned, “Yes, sir,” before obeying me with such enthusiasm that we came so hard we passed out and slept all night with my cock still buried deep inside her.

Life wasn’t perfect, but spending it with this woman and our children was as close as you could get.

Loved by Hitman

Love didn’t have a place in Merrick Ashford’s life. The former Navy SEAL’s entire focus was on his job with Ruthless Corp. Relationships were the last thing on his mind while working on a hit…until Audrey Cantrell spotted him in the middle of an assignment.

Merrick didn’t have any other choice. He had to kidnap the beautiful college student to protect his identity. Or at least that was what he told himself.

The hitman had already fallen hard and fast for Audrey, and he was going to keep her close until she returned his love.

Prologue

Merrick

Istared through the scope on my rifle, lining it up with my target. The rooftop I was perched on had the perfect cover, so I was well hidden. It had taken a couple of months to find the bastard who’d betrayed my SEAL team. But I finally had him in my sights.

Taking this guy out was the only option. Otherwise, he’d find some way to tamper with the evidence of his traitorous activities, and we’d probably end up in front of a firing squad—a method most people didn’t realize was still in use. The son of a bitch deserved no better, but as this wasn’t a sanctioned mission, he would only be on the receiving end of a single bullet to the head.

I knew this would effectively end my military career, but if I didn’t do it, one of my brothers would. I was the only one without family, and my soul had already been blackened enough. Besides, I’d been recruited for a new job with Ruthless Corp. As soon as I completed this mission, I would leave the Navy with honors and start my life in Los Angeles as a professional hitman. Had to put my sniper skills to use somehow...and as long as the owner, Rogue, gave me targets that deserved their fate, I had no crisis of conscience over my employment.

My heartbeat was calm and slow, my steady breaths in sync with the rhythm. Finally, Vic turned in my direction, and I took the shot.

His body froze for a second before crumpling to the ground. A few drops of blood leaked from the small, precise hole directly between his eyes. Calmly but quickly, I began to pack up my equipment. I didn’t give Vic another thought. He wasn’t my first kill, and he certainly wouldn’t be my last.

Once I’d rid the rooftop of every spec of evidence—my skills as a cleaner were another reason I’d been recruited by Ruthless Corp—I slipped into the building and made my way down the stairs. I exited the back and hoofed it the ten blocks to my truck.
