“Absolutely! I’ll call you.”

We exchange numbers, and then I let Sebastian practically drag me back to the car. He slams the door behind us, and we pull away from the car without a word.

He’s fuming, I can tell.

But so am I.

We ride back to the house in silence. The elevator ride up from the underground parking garage is full of tension, but I wait until we’re inside the house and alone to confront him. By now, my own irritation has escalated, and I can’t hold back.

“How did you find me?” I demanded, turning on him as we reach the foyer. He heads to the living room instead of answering, and I follow. I’m not going to let him get away with ignoring me after that scene at the café. “Seriously, you just happened to be driving past one random café in the whole city?”

“I have my ways.” Sebastian answers coolly.

I’m struck with a sudden thought. “Did you track my phone?”

He doesn’t reply, but I have my answer.

“I can’t believe it!” I exclaim. “Who the hell do you think you are?”

“You didn’t pick up my calls.”

“Because I was busy,” I scowl.

“You didn’t say where you were going,” Sebastian continues, looking pissed. “You left before anyone was up.”

“Because I needed some space!” I cry. “I just went for a walk, for God’s sake. Or am I supposed to be a prisoner here?”

“You can go anywhere you like,” Sebastian says, his jaw clenched. “Just as long as you let me know where you are.”

“Why? So you can keep tabs on me?” I know I should dial it back, not make him angry, but I can’t help it. I wanted space away from him, and being back in the same room, so close, seeing the pent-up intensity in his gaze…

It’s hot.

And I hate myself for thinking that, even for an instant.

“I always keep track of my property, especially the valuable things.” Sebastian says, and I give a laugh of disdain. “You don’t go anywhere without my knowledge.”

“Property?” I scoff. “You don’t own me. I’m here because I’m choosing to be here, because I don’t exactly have ten million in loose change just sitting around to buy my way out of your arrangement with Nero. But don’t for a minute think that gives you control over anything more than my time,” I add, stabbing my finger towards him. “One month of my presence, that’s all you get.”

“Then you’re mine for the whole month,” he says, stepping closer to me with a heated look in his eyes. “That means you don’t take off in the early morning hours without me knowing where you are.Andyou answer when I call.”

I fold my arms. “What if I don’t?”

I know I shouldn’t challenge him like this, but I can’t help pushing back, and letting part of my real personality show. I’ve been acting meek and docile for too long, with all those fucking fluttering eyelashes and bashful looks. God, I just want to scream at him, to yell from the rooftops what a cruel, heartless bastard he really is.

“Careful, Sparrow. You don’t want to test me.” Sebastian glares, taking a step closer to me.

“Don’t I?” I taunt him.

“No.” He takes another step. His voice drops, low and steely. “Because you might not like what happens next.”

“It can’t be worse than anything I’ve endured with you so far,” I retort, and then suddenly, I gasp, as Sebastian yanks me into his arms, pinning me back against the wall.

“Endure?” he echoes darkly. He brings my chin up to look at him, his blue eyes cold and knowing. “That’s not what it felt like when you were begging me last night, when your body opened up to me, wet and aching. When you came against my tongue, squeezing that tight cunt like you wanted me to fill it all the way up.”

A shudder of lust rolls through me at his filthy words.

Fuck.
