“Say it or this arrangement is over.” Sebastian leans in, his lips grazing my temple. “Answer my calls,” he demands, his voice shuddering through me, full of steely promise. “Tell me exactly where you are. I’ll take care of you, Little Sparrow. I’ll give my girl everything she needs.”

I wish it was self-preservation that made me finally gasp my assent. That I calculated the risk of Sebastian rejecting me, and calling off this whole deal, and decided it was better to surrender, and cry out ‘Yes,’ than risk losing my chance for revenge.

But I’m too far gone to care.

I’ll take care of you…

The words seem to encircle me, with a seductive power I don’t understand. “Please,” I moan, begging him. “I’ll do what you want. I’ll be good for you.”

Triumph flashes on his face. “There you go,” Sebastian’s fingers slide deep inside me again. “That wasn’t so hard now, was it?”

His kiss swallows my sob, harsh and dominant as he shoves me back against the wall, his fingers moving in a frenzy as his mouth claims me for his own. He nips at my lip, painful, as his thumb finds my clit again, rubbing in relentless circles while his fingers plunge inside me, stretching me, sending waves of pleasure that I can’t hold back, I can’t stop, I—

Fuck.

I shatter in a sharp burst, pinned there, helpless, to the wall. I’m reeling with the force of it, but Sebastian doesn’t even wait a moment, he pulls away, leaving weak-legged and panting.

“Wait…” I gasp, needing to hold onto him—to anything solid, while my world still spins in double-time.

“Our conversation is over. I have work to do.” Sebastian licks off his fingers as his eyes flick over me, and the sight of me sagging here, flushed and panting and totally undone, must be pleasing, because he gives an approving nod.

“Now that I know how to make you behave, we shouldn’t have this problem again.”

With those words, he walks away.

Bastard.

AVERY

Despite feelinglike a failure for surrendering to Sebastian’s seduction, I finally get a decent night’s sleep, and wake feeling more refreshed than I have in ages. I’ve had enough sleepless nights since Miles died, and my body can’t take much more of it.

I need to take care of myself if I’m going to see this through.

I pull on a robe, and head downstairs, bracing myself for whatever Sebastian has planned for us. But when I enter the dining room, I find Leon clearing the table of empty plates, indicating that Seb was already down here and ate breakfast.

“Where is he?” I ask.

“Mr. Wolfe had to go into work early, but he asked me to pass along a message. You’re to meet him for lunch at noon with some clients. The driver will be here to collect you.”

“OK,” I say, knowing that it won’t do any good to refuse. Besides, it would just create an opportunity for Seb to try to control me with sexual pleasure, and I don’t think I’m ready for another round of that particular game.

Not when my body still shivers for the last one.

“Can I get you some breakfast?” Leon offers politely.

“Just some toast would be great. And coffee,” I add with a smile. “Thank you.”

He nods, and heads for the kitchen. I wonder what he might know about skeletons in Seb’s closet. Of course, I don’t think that’s an avenue truly worth exploring. After all, Sebastian doesn’t strike me as foolish enough to have the man be his house manager if he can’t be trusted.

And wealth like Sebastian’s buys a whole lot of loyalty.

No, I’ll need to look further afield to find anyone with a grudge against him. I’m guessing there are plenty of people who would love to see Sebastian burn—I just have to get my shit together and figure out his weak spots, the way he’s already pinpointed one of mine.

Every inch of my traitorous body tingles as I remember the feeling of his hand between my legs.

I shake the thought away as Leon brings my breakfast. “Thanks,” I say brightly. He gives me a nod, and retreats.
