And London feels like a long way away.

It’s almost four, so I head to meet Sebastian at the bar he mentioned, right on the waterfront. It’s a cute spot, with tables outside under a striped awning, and I can spot Sebastian sitting at a table, drinking a beer.

And he’s not alone.

There’s a beautiful woman sitting beside him, a brunette wearing big sunglasses, and that effortless European chic style. They’re talking and laughing together, totally at ease. And as I watch, she leans over and squeezes Sebastian’s arm, her touch lingering.

It’s clear they know each other. Very well.

“So,this is the woman who’s making you so happy…” Bianca remarks, watching Avery approach us across the square. “I can see why.”

I rise to my feet as Avery arrives, laden down with shopping bags. “I see you’ve been busy,” I tell her, and her eyes flick back and forth between me and Bianca.

“You too,” she says, and although she’s smiling, I can see there’s tension in her eyes as she takes in the other woman at the table.

Is she… jealous?

“This is Bianca,” I introduce them. “She’s an old friend of mine from England. She lives here now.”

“Great to meet you,” Avery says, still wary.

I hide a grin. Avery drives me crazy when she so much as looks at another man, so I have to admit, it’s rather nice to have the tables turned. To see she cares enough to be jealous of another woman.

Not that she has anything to worry about in that department. I haven’t so much as felt a flicker of desire for another woman since Avery came into my life. My attention is solely on her—for better or worse.

She’s the only one I crave to possess, body and soul.

“Well, I’m afraid I have to get back,” Bianca says, rising to her feet. “We’re having people over tonight. Are you sure you won’t join us for dinner, Seb? I’d love to get to know Avery better,” she adds with a smile. “He’s barely said a word about you,” she tells Avery, rolling her eyes. “Men, they’re more than happy to share every detail of their new business acquisition, but when it comes to the more important things in life? Not a whisper.”

I smile. “I’m not sure, we only arrived this morning—”

“Nonsense,” Bianca talks over me. “You will both come and have a marvelous time. I won’t hear any excuses.”

I chuckle. “Well, in that case… We’ll be there.”

“Perfecto,” she announces, kissing me on both cheeks. “Bring some of that fabulous wine you have gathering dust in your cellar. Avery, lovely to meet you, don’t let him change his mind!”

Bianca waltzes away.

I sit back, smiling, but Avery is watching her go, furrowing her brow. “She seems nice,” she says blandly.

God, she’s adorable like this.

“You’re jealous,” I say, amused.

“Should I be?” Avery arches an eyebrow at me, challenging.

“Not at all.” I take a drink. “Bianca is an old friend of mine. A married friend,” I add. “She and her wife, Violetta, live up in the hills near my estate here.”

“Her wife…” Avery echoes. Then she blushes. “Oh.”

“Exactly.” I drop my voice, and lean closer. “Do you really think another woman could compare to you?” I murmur, tracing my fingertips along her bare arm. “You’re the only one I want, Sparrow. In every possible way.”

Avery’s cheeks flush, and her lips part, tantalizing.
