I gave a small laugh and then my fingers did what they’d been itching to do. They trailed down her shoulder and she blushed.

“We can’t,” she shook her head.

I took a breath. “Why not?”

“It’d be a bad decision,” Nora had made up her mind.

“You don’t make bad decisions?”

“Never,” she whispered back.

We stared into each other’s eyes for just a few moments, smiling. Her phone vibrated and she broke eye contact. She’d been saved by the bell.

“Our ride is here,” Nora said getting up.

She drank the rest of her water and then popped up from the bar stool. I had no choice but to follow her. When we got outside it was the same black town car she’d had on retainer for the last few days. While she slipped into the car, I went around to speak to the driver.

My fist pecked at his window. He was older and only spoke Italian. It’d been a long while since I conversed in the language of my ancestors but I figured I’d give it a go.

Slowly, I slipped into a rhythm and words flowed back to me. I managed to negotiate that he would wait for us and keep the engine warm. That he was to be watching the door at all times because things might go wrong.

He agreed, especially when I mentioned who I worked for.

The DeLuca’s ran shit and all of Italy knew it, even though Sebastian had never stepped foot on Italian soil. That was his family’s legacy. Power through a network of shadows that half the world didn’t know anything about.

Slipping into the back seat of the SUV, I sat next to Nora. Her scent once again seemed to overwhelm me and I let it. My stomach clenched, excitement beginning to course through my veins. Tonight, this chase would come to an end.

The Hellfire Club was on the outskirts of Rome. Thoughts of carnage roamed through the caverns of my mind. As if reading my mind, Nora spoke.

“I did some more digging on this place. The club is known for shady shit and this isn’t the only location, there’s clubs all over the world” volunteering the information, Nora gave a toss of her hair revealing her neck. “I took the liberty of getting the schematics. I imagine you weren’t’ thinking about that exactly.”

“Can’t say that the thought crossed my mind.” My balls tingled at the sight of her exposed skin.

She gave a laugh and handed over her phone. The plans of the building were drawn up. The place had chambers and there were few exits. The mission was stupid simple.

Locate Gisella.

Extract Gisella.

“I have also told the pilot to be on standby,” Nora nodded as I handed her the phone back.

We arrived at the club. I noted that the windows were blacked out entirely. You couldn’t see in or out of the place. Upon exiting the vehicle, we noticed that a small line had formed and was waiting for us. The hairs seemed to stand up on the back of my neck thinking about walking into the unknown.

Protect Nora, the Corsican broke its silence before fading away. I had started to notice that it had never once mentioned Gisella.

Giving my head a shake, my eyes watched my counterpart. She was Sebastian’s other hand; Nora was a guiding light. I had no idea how much she truly knew about his past or mine but she had an air of determination running through her tonight.

She was ready to get the hell out of Italy too.

The line moved an inch and it occurred to me that I had no idea what type of club this was. Nora was starting to turn her phone off.

“Nora,” I murmured.

“Yes,” she glanced over her bare shoulder and up at me.

“You never told me what type of club this was.” Frowning. I was most definitely frowning at this point in time.

She shrugged.
