“What? You just have pussy on standbye?” I asked.

He scoffed, crashing on his couch. “You don’t?”

“I’m not the one you need to be worried about!”

Carmine’s face turned serious. “Matteo texted me, so I knew you were coming. What’s this about your Corsican being rowdy. And a murder attempt?”

“You know…for someone who works for the FBI, he can’t keep shit to himself,” I offered a laugh.

I sat down on the couch. “But yeah….someone, definitely a professional, rolled up on me at a stop light.”

Carmine shook his head. “There has been no chatter. I’ve been tuned in on the dark web, I haven’t seen any jobs.”

“That you’ve seen anyway,” I remarked.

A lot of times, if you wanted an assassin, you went to the dark web. There were specific channels and groups. My father ran a tight fucking network and for someone to be coming after me there had to be some chatter about it somewhere.

“You know dad would call you if there were,” Carmine glanced over.

I sucked down the rest of my coffee and scoffed. “Would he though?”

Carmine gave a sigh. “Let me put on something more comfortable. If you want to spar….I’ll lay your ass out on the mat.”

“Fuck you, I’ll whoop your ass now,” I looked over but Carmine was already jumping over the couch and heading off to find clothes.

Finished with the coffee, I made my way to the garage and started to stretch. Loosening up my body, I really needed to get out this extra energy and adrenaline that had coiled itself up inside of my body.

I might be able to get Nora and the taste of her pussy out of my mind.

Before I knew it, the Corsican was roaring to life and my brother and I were bouncing around the mat. Flipping and dodging each other like the trained assassins we were.

“That’s a bitch move,” Carmine roared when I managed to smack him, irritating him and his own monster.

A smile danced on my lips as sweat began to lick my body. “What’s a matter, Carmine? Feeling weak and not as good as me.”

It was a jab at his skills for sure. With Matteo’s Corsican never fully emerging, I was the next strongest member of my family. Carmine had been born two years after me, followed by Asher and then Cody who was only in his teens.

“You’re getting old and sloppy,” Carmine shot back, his voice sounding as if two people were speaking.

His Corsican was up and ready to go.

He swung out with a kick and caught me in the midsection. I fell back against the mat and narrowly dodged being punched in the face. Rolling away, I moved to my feet as fast as I could and Carmine came in swinging harder and faster than before.

We had moved away from sparring.

It was dangerous anyway, and we should have waited for Matteo. When two Corsicans went unchecked, death could follow shortly. The monsters in us had no allegiance to anyone but whose body they resided in.

Nora,my Corsican thought.

Holy shit, are you love sick right now?

Pop!

Pop!

Carmine’s fist had managed to connect with my face twice and I stumbled back. My Corsican was not in this fight and I was pissed off.

Hey!I thought.Fucking focus! We’re getting our ass kicked.
