Fucking Gisella, I thought.

It hit me then that the other man might have been Mason’s father. Was this some sort of revenge for punching him and making a public spectacle? I had no idea and had no real desire to find out. I just wanted to get out of this entire mess and this goddamned costume.

“Fuck him,” Tobias seethed from somewhere behind me. “I’m going to tear him limb from limb.”

“You’ll have your chance, Number Ten,” the man who I now thought was Augustus Zacchara stated.

I heard a match strike and for just a moment, I believed I might be set on fire. Someone had lit a cigar. Rich hints of tobacco permeated the air. It definitely had to be Augustus. He just seemed like the type and then Gisella started to cough.

“Auggie,” she whined. “The baby can’t be around smoke.”

Oh, she’s going to win mother of the year.

I rolled my eyes behind the hood still covering my features.

Why did the name Auggie seem so familiar? I’d never hear Mason say much about his parents let alone his father’s name.

“Yes, my dear,” I heard Augustus mumble. “Don’t get too close to this one.”

My ears perked up again as I heard footsteps and the door closing. Before I knew it the hood was off of my head and blinked rapidly as light infiltrated my pupils.

Gisella stared back at me, dressed in all white. The bitch was even wearing white chinchilla, all while a hand rested on her slightly protruding belly. Part of me wondered if she wished she was carrying Mason’s child.

She leaned against a desk, where a soft light was coming from a lamp causing a glow to outline her body.

“Nerdy Nora,” she smiled that stupid ass smile.

My hands flexed, and she took note still smiling. “Gisella, why don’t you untie me so I can show you how nerdy I am?”

She laughed and clapped her hands. “Fuck, you grew a backbone too?”

“And you still have coke problem.”

The smile never left her lips. “I’m clean now.”

“That’s nice, Gisella. Really fucking nice but I don’t know if you’ve noticed…I’m tied to a chair. I saved your fucking life, you owe me. Get me out of this chair.”

She stared at me the smile dropping from her lips, giving a pause. “What?”

“Yeah bitch, I was the one that called for the doctor.”

Gisella tossed her shiny blonde hair over her shoulder and gave a huff. “I would’ve been fine. Just bad coke.”

“Look…”

“He’s coming for you,” Gisella’s face turned serious.

“Who?”

She rolled her eyes, her hand going to her hip. “Mason.”

There was a sadness in her voice. “Well, it’s somehow his fault I’m in this goddamn chair. So, if Tobias doesn’t kill me first, I’m gonna kill Mason.”

She laughed. “He’s different now, you know.”

Taking a breath, I chanced asking. If she was talking, I was living.

Yeah bitch, keep her talking, I thought as I slowly wiggled my wrist.
