I’d finally caught my breath as my brothers eased the firearm away from Nora. I’d never been so happy to see them in my whole life.

Tobias wasn’t done though. I knew judging by the wounds on his face from earlier, and the arm I’d snapped, he was regenerating himself rapidly.

“Get her out of here!” I commanded them.

“But..!” Nora wanted to protest.

“I’ll be right behind you, Darlin. I promise.”

She took a breath, and nodded leaving with my brothers. When I was sure we were alone again. I got down behind Tobias, positioning him so that I had him in a head lock.

“Fucking do it!” He seethed. “But know…I am not the end. There are more, Mason. You can’t begin to fathom us.”

Taking a breath, I whispered to him. “I’ll see you again in hell someday.”

Crack!

I’d broken his neck and I felt nothing. The Corsican had let me have this moment. I’d been in the driver’s seat taking this crazy fuckers life. I was grateful for that.

For a long moment, I stood over his body. Those women that he’d murdered deserved some sort of justice. Matteo was going to have to cook up a story for the FBI to give their loved ones some sort of peace.

I walked out of the Hellfire Club and into Nora’s waiting arms.

“This has been the worst fucking Halloween,” she said.

“Oh Darlin,” I leaned down and kissed her hard against the lips.

“What about that psycho?” she asked.

“Yeah,” Matteo asked. “What about him?”

I started to limp over to the vehicle, with Nora tucked under my arm. “You’re gonna have to figure that out. I’m the muscle round these parts, you’re the sheriff big bro.”

Carmine laughed at us. “What a fucking night. Nora you and my brother really know how to party.”

She cringed. “I’m never celebrating this holiday ever again.”

We got into the back seat of the car, and I pulled her against my sore body. Nora snuggled into me. Quietly in the dark, I whispered to her sure that my brothers were listening in even though they were pretending otherwise.

“Nora?”

“Yes,” she’d laid her head against my chest.

I was starting to feel tired. Fatigue was starting to set in, the adrenaline fading. “We love you…with everything in us.”

A yawn escaped from her lips. “I love you too, Mason.”

ChapterTwenty-Five

Nora

I’d become entranced, watching Mason and Tobias dance inside of the ring. The monitors had view going up. Corsican versus Synthetic Corsican, I thought as the views ticked up. I’d finally turned away from the screen and focused on the laptop.

Killing the feed was the easiest part. There was no way Mason needed the entire world to know his business. With the stroke of a few buttons, I’d turned the live feed off before things got too crazy.

Augustus and Gisella had left quick, fast, and in hurry, but he wasn’t a tech genius by any means. He’d left behind a computer that was networked into many of the ones he’d used.

He’d even been stupid enough to tell me what the password was before he’d flown the coop.
