“Why am I here? I found you with your location on my phone. Why don’t you ever fucking text me that you’re okay?”

She looks at Preacher and then me with a knowing smile on her face. “And, sorry to interrupt your morning fuck fest, but I came to find out if you knew how I ended up with a fuck load of bitcoin in a crypto account I never knew about?”

“Oh. That.”

“Yeah, that,” she says. “Any ideas?”

“I’ll give you ladies some time to talk,” Preacher says, kissing my cheek and stealing the rest of the omelet before he exits the kitchen.

As soon as he’s gone, Ro squeals. “Hot damn girl, he’s even hotter in nothing but gray sweatpants!”

“Right?” I fan my face. “He’s all the things I want in a man and a bunch of shit I didn’t even know to want in a man.” I smile and tell her about last night’s rescue.

“He came for me, Ro. He didn’t have to, but he and his men rescued me. It was crazy and gruesome and…hot.”

She laughs. “Girl, only you could stumble into that particular brand of hotness. I’m happy for you, but that doesn’t explain the crypto, babe.”

One brow arches demandingly, and I know I’m not getting out of this conversation.

I tell her about taking the money from the Iron Kings and giving it to Preacher. “They kidnapped me, girl, right off the fucking street like in the movies.”

Ro’s eyes are wide with shock. “No way!”

“Yep. And I thought I was gonna die before I made good on my promise to you. So I stole a bunch of their money and sent some of it to you so you could leave this place and make your dreams come true.”

I held my breath to see what Ro would say.

She shakes her head, and I know she’s going to reject the money. A small smile forms. “You are one crazy bitch, you know that?” She laughs and pulls me in for another hug. “Thank you for thinking of me, but I’d rather we struggle together than succeed apart.”

I blink away tears. “I thought I was going to die, Ro. But I didn’t and here you are. And we’re rich!”

We laugh together, and it feels good, like old times. My life has become unrecognizable over the past few weeks since Preacher came into it.

“Does this mean we’re staying in Angel Harbor?”

I nod. “Yeah, if that’s all right with you?”

“You love him,” she says bluntly.

“I do, and I think he might love me back, Ro.” I wait for her to decide. One I would abide by because, you know, hoes before bros.

“Wow, that’s so amazing, Gia. I’m really happy for you.”

“You are?”

She nods. “Hell, yeah, a sexy biker with a heart of gold? Maybe he’s got a kid brother for me,” she jokes and wiggles her eyebrows.

“No brother,” I sigh. “But, that story is for another day. Thank you, Ro.”

“What are best friends for?” She hugs me again, and when she pulls back, she’s grinning. “I’m not staying in the old neighborhood now. I’m a woman of means, and I’m getting my own place, maybe starting my own business.”

“Together?” I ask hesitantly.

“Always. Just because you’re shacked up with the big dick hottie doesn’t mean I’m going anywhere. Best friends forever, right?”

“To the fucking grave, girl.”
