A crash sounds inside, the house and we both freeze. “You heard that, right?”
I nod and point toward the tower of boxes to the left of the door. We crouch down behind the boxes, out of sight, so if the intruder comes to the garage, I can see him before he can see us. I think of the truck parked out front and shrug. No need to alarm her by making her think they were inside with us. “Probably saw the truck and decided to see who else you’re keeping company with.”
“This is scary,” she whispers.
“It is. Turn off your phone,” I tell her and pull mine out to tap out a quick text to Ace and the guys.
Trouble. Maven’s house. Come quick. Small group.
“What do we do? Just wait here and hope they leave?” Her fear is palpable, and I can hear the slight tremble in her voice.
I nod. “For now,youwait here. I’m going to check out what’s going on inside.” The last thing I want is to leave her alone in the garage, but that doesn’t stop me from pulling my weapon from my ankle holster and getting to my feet.
“What the fuck?”
I frown. “You know I have a gun. For situations just like this. You expect me to run in there unarmed?” I know she has a problem with the MC life, but this is ridiculous. “Don’t tell me you’re anti-gun on top of anti-MC?”
“No,” she shakes her head and lets out a sexy grunt. “I’m not anti-MC or anti-gun, I am very much anti-fucking me with a loaded gun in your boot.”
I smirk. “Sounds like the same thing to me, sweetheart.” The noises grow louder inside the house, and I take a step toward the door leading inside the house from the garage.
Maven lets out a sexy growl, and I ignore the effect it has on my body. “Obviously, I’d rather you be armed, but it’s a little…off-putting to know you had a gun strapped to your body while you fucked me.”
I smile and get in her face. “Would it make you feel better if I had it out in the truck where it would be useless to me right now?”
