“Can you take a look at this list?” he asked, moving closer to Luisa.

I watched as she studied it for a few seconds, then gasped.

“Which one?” Atticus asked.

She pointed, then looked up at me.

“Who is he?” I asked.

“The fucking misogynist from my program.”

The one she said held disdain for all women but that something about her seemed to bother him even more. I took a closer look at the name she’d pointed to.Hamad Al Zaabi.

Within seconds, Atticus had a dossier loaded.

“That’s him,” confirmed Luisa when he pointed to a photograph.

“NRO says they can place him in Egypt four days ago,” said Magnet from the other side of the helicopter.

Like in Felixstowe, I sat in awe as the team mapped out the plan to rescue Jada while, at the same time, capturing the man who held her hostage.

“Weneedhim alive,” Jaicon repeated more than once. “The Akicita will land here,” she said, pointing to the tablet, where an image of the area surrounding the outside of the building appeared.

“The K19 team already at the location has confirmed Al Zaabi has eyes and ears throughout the corridors,” Zeppelin reported.

“What does that mean?” Luisa asked.

“Nothing we hadn’t anticipated,” Jaicon responded. “It’s how he’s ensuring no one enters instead of you or with you.”

The thoughts racing through my mind dizzied me, and I put my head in my hands. “Are you actually suggesting that she go inalone?”

I felt Luisa’s eyes on me, but I couldn’t look at her. It was one thing for her to insist she be here. It was another thing entirely for her to be unprotected, at the mercy of a madman.

“Luisa will not go in alone.” Jaicon pulled up the schematic. “We will have eyes on her when she enters through this corridor—”

“How is that not alone?”

I felt Luisa’s hand on my arm. “Press, let her finish.”

“May I?” Zeppelin asked.

Jaicon nodded, handed him the tablet, and motioned for me to switch places with her.

Zeppelin dragged his finger where the other corridors were indicated. As he did, each was highlighted.

“Doc Butler and his father are working with the team now to intercept the signals within these areas. Al Zaabi will not be aware the transmissions he’s hearing and seeing have been tampered with in any way. The feeds will be replaced. The only section that will remain hot is the one where Luisa will enter from. By the time we land, we’ll have a full live view of the station’s interior. If he takes a step or even lifts a finger, we’ll know it.”

“Nothing you’ve said changes the fact Luisa will be going in alone.”

Zeppelin ran his finger along both sides of the corridor she’d enter through, then shaded parts of the area. “Signals from everywhere shaded will be intercepted. We will be there, but Al Zaabi won’t know it.”

“Wait, is that above where she’ll be?” I asked.

The schematic on the screen rotated. “These are drop ceilings with a minimum of three feet of crawl space throughout. The walls”—he pointed—“are cinder block and twenty-four-inches thick, allowing us ample support.”

“What if he hears you?” Luisa asked, rubbing her temples with her fingers.

“By the time you enter the building, snipers will already be in place. The minute there is any chance he can be neutralized, he will be.”
