“Champagne girl?” the non-bruised man said. “Sexy as fuck, might grope her later?”

Vito rolled his eyes so far into the back of his head that Liz thought they might disappear.

“You’re both fucking obliterated, aren’t you?” he snapped. “This is that bitch from the gym.”

The Morettis stared at her, computing laboriously until the bruised one slipped a hand into his blazer pocket. When a gleaming silver handgun emerged, pointing directed at her, Liz thought she was going to pass out.

“I remember her,” he said, smirking and high as a kite.

“Sit the fuck down,” Vito said.

He’d spun her around and shoved her down on one of the couches in the room. It was plushy, so her fall didn’t hurt, but it did nothing to alleviate her panic.

“Vito, I don’t know what you’re talking about!” she started to yell at him.

Bruised eye brought the gun closer, pressing it against her forehead. The coolness of the tip frightened her more than she had ever been in her entire life. She thought her heart might erupt inside her chest at any moment.

“No more talking,” Moretti said. “You’re not going anywhere, sexy girl.”

All Liz could do was try to summon Ben through sheer will and terror.

Chapter17

Ben

Ben sat at his desk, staring at the clock. He had been watching it since midnight when the VIP party for the Moretti’s started. It was now two thirty.

It was very uncommon for VIP parties to last more than two hours at Sinsations. Normally everyone was drunk and got kicked out by then. His heart and head raced. She’d been in there for far too long.

He had tried to hold off on his plan to appear at the party for as long as possible, but his gut was screaming at him. Something wasn’t right.

He shut down his computer, walked out of his office, and down the hallway to the back exit. He walked out into the rain, and the water immediately soaked his clothes.

Walking behind the dumpsters, he took off his suit jacket and began to unbutton his shirt. He threw them aside, along with his pants and boxers, and closed his eyes.

He groaned as his muscles began to contract, shrinking themselves. He fell to the ground, holding himself up with one hand. He heard the same breaking he always did before this happened, and he knew the pain would be over soon.

He screamed as fur emerged from his skin and his canines grew into fangs. He looked down and saw a paw where his hand used to be. Within seconds, he had shifted into his tiger form.

He looked around the dumpster into the parking lot, checking for any passersby who might have seen him. The coast was clear, fortunately, and much to his surprise, seeing as it was a Saturday night.

He looked down at his clothes on the pavement. They were soaked and dirtied from the nearby trash. They were useless now, a minor inconvenience based on what was happening.

He prowled around to the side of the building and looked at the back entrance to the VIP room. It led to a small closet close to the kitchen from which they could cater to the VIP customers. He used his paw to push the door aside, thanking God that he had decided to unlock it earlier, assuming this moment would come.

The door closed quietly behind him as he walked toward the door to the VIP room. Ben quickly shook the water off of his fur, then he leaned down on the cold cement floor, listening. His ears twitched back and forth as he heard the music. Beneath it, he could hear conversations.

“Twenty thousand in cash.”

“Most beautiful ass you’ve ever seen, bro.”

“One more round?”

He rolled his eyes. They were the lowest lifeforms he had encountered, and that was saying something. He heard the laughter of other women and flirting, but Liz’s voice wasn’t audible. He wondered if she had just left when he snuck in, but he had to make sure.

He prowled quietly, his large paws sneaking along the cold cement of the closet. He peeked through the hole in the closet wall at the VIP room. He saw girls sitting on laps, serving body shots, and giving lap dances. At least he knew his employees were working hard.

His stomach turned when he didn’t see Liz in the room. He had come so far and done so much to protect her. He couldn’t let anything happen to her now.
