“I always will be.”

“Did you mean all those things you said last night? About me being the one for you?”

I stop the truck, throw it into park, and turn in my seat, looking at my girl with pure love. “I meant every word. I still do. I want to be your man, Carrie. I want it more than anything.”

A slow smile builds on her face.

“Come with me tonight.”

“To the rehearsal dinner?”

She nods eagerly. “You can be my date.”

I feel weightless with euphoria as I stare at her beautiful face. This isn’t over. Why did I ever think it would be?

“I’d love to be your date,” I tell her. “I’ll be there.”

ChapterNine

Carrie

Idon’t know what I was expecting my sexy mountain man to be wearing—old jeans and a flannel top?—but I wasn’t expecting this.

He walks into the room in gray slacks and a white buttoned-up collared shirt. The sleeves are rolled up his thick tattooed forearms and I get warm shivers all over, knowing those muscular arms were wrapped around me all night.

He’s so hot. He towers over everyone and makes the other men look like boys. His hair is pulled back into a tight ponytail and his beard is neatly trimmed. All eyes in the room go to him, but he’s not looking back at any of them. He’s busy searching for me. When we make eye contact, he relaxes and I get all warm and shivery with the possessive way he’s looking at me.

“Who isthat?” one of the other bridesmaids, Savannah, asks me with her eyes bulging out of her head.

I giggle as I check out everyone’s shocked reactions. “That’s my date.”

“What?!?”

I leave her with her mouth hanging open and a million questions swirling in her head and go to my man.

“Hey, princess,” he whispers when I arrive. He immediately takes my hand and kisses me on the lips. I can feel every eye in the room on us, but I don’t care. These lips are too tasty to turn away. “You are breathtaking.”

Those lustful brown eyes look me up and down and I can feel my nipples hardening with desire when his eyes linger a little longer on my chest.

I’m wearing my new favorite dress that I bought last week—a beautiful light blue sleeveless dress that flares out at my hips and stops above my knees. I wasn’t sure if I should splurge on it, but with the way Tyler is eye fucking me right now, I’m glad I did.

“Hi, Carrie!” another bridesmaid, Elle, says as she butts in. “Who’s this?”

I only told the bride that I was bringing a date. I wanted to see the shocked faces on everyone else when Tyler walked into the room, and boy did they deliver. They all look stunned. It’s not every day that a man who looks like he could be Thor’s body double comes strolling into the room.

“This is my friend, Tyler,” I say, presenting him proudly.

“Boyfriend, Tyler,” he says to Elle as he shakes her hand.

She holds her breath as her wide eyes slide up his big tattooed arms. “Nice to a… meet you. Tyler.”

Her cheeks are blushing and her boyfriend is frowning when she finally lets go of his hand.

Everyone is crowding around, so I decide to introduce him to everyone at once. “This is my boyfriend, Tyler,” I tell them. It feels weird to call him my boyfriend, but I could definitely get used to it. “He lives nearby.”

They all take turns shaking his big hand and welcoming him to the party.

While Mia’s dad is asking him questions about life in the mountains, Mia grabs my arm and pulls me aside.
