I hope she likes it. It’s a big log cabin with a spectacular view. She won’t be able to enjoy it with all this rain, but hopefully tomorrow morning will be clear so she can see why I love these mountains so much.

I grew up in these parts. The mountains were my playground as a kid. I was constantly camping, fishing, hunting, mountain biking, mountain climbing, and doing anything I could outdoors. Almost always alone. I never had much use for company, but after seeing Carrie’s beautiful face, I’m rethinking that a lot.

This cabin is going to feel awfully empty after she leaves.

Don’t focus on that now. You have her for the night. Treasure every moment.

“Ready to go in?” I ask her.

She nods.

I suck in a breath when she reaches through the middle of the seats for her bags in the back. Her wet V-neck shirt is sticking to her chest. I can see the outline of her bra, the curve of her tits, and the tempting bit of cleavage as she stretches out.

Fuck…

I force my eyes away. Hopefully soon, I’ll be able to feast my eyes on her body all I want, but that time is not now and I don’t want her to think I’m a creep.

That sexy image stays in my head as I open the door and step out into the rain. Any inch of clothing that dried with the heater gets instantly soaked again.

I open the back door and grab two of her bags. She grabs the last one and we hurry inside.

“You don’t lock your front door?” she asks, staring at me in shock.

I chuckle. “Who’s going to rob me? A moose?”

“Yeah, I guess you don’t get many criminals around here.”

“The people who live in these mountains are strong proud people,” I say as I put her bags down and slip my boots off. “Criminals are dumb, but they’re smart enough to avoid us.”

She looks so curious as her alert blue eyes dart around my place. I’m looking around too, seeing it through her eyes. There’s a loft over the modern kitchen where my bed is. There are a couple of bedrooms on the main floor, but I like waking up and seeing the spectacular view through the giant windows, so I sleep up there.

I’m thankful that I cleaned up this morning. It’s pretty spotless.

“It’s beautiful,” she says as she slips off her shoes and walks over to my enormous couches. They’re in the shape of a rectangle that’s missing one side and they face the big stone fireplace and the foggy windows.

She runs her hand along the top of my couch and it’s such a simple act, but it lights a fire in my core. I picture that same hand running over my body and the need to have this girl cements itself in my soul.

“Should we call Sam?” she asks with a hopeful tone.

That optimism is about to be crushed. “Sure.”

I grab my phone, put it on speakerphone, and dial his number.

He answers on the seventh ring.

“Ya.”

“Hey, Sam. It’s Tyler. I found a stranded tourist on the mountain.”

“They were driving in this weather?” he says with a laugh. “Dumb fucks.”

Carrie frowns.

“Watch your mouth,” I warn. “It’s a lady and she’s lovely.”

“Is she hot?”

I grit my teeth as I picture reaching through the line, grabbing his scrawny neck, and squeezing it for talking about my girl like that.
